Yep. Borough 3 up at half time. 4 nil after the break with a penalty from Sigere. Town looked the stronger side in the second half though and, thanks to some sloppy defending, clawed it back. A decent run out for Borough, a few things to work on and one or two encouraging performances. Only gripe is that we seemed to lose a bit of interest in the second half. Worth seeing though

Boro 4-0 up via Atkin hat-trick and Sigere penalty before Town fight-back yo 4-4. 2 different teams each half, the new signings played mostly in the 2nd half. boro played really well in the 1st 45 minutes but at 4-0 appeared to relax and Town took advantage of a make-shift Boro back-four to gain a creditable draw.
What disappointed me was the reaction of the Town fans after the final whilstle as the Boro players left the field. Fair-play, no complaints about the score and it was an entertaining game. The Boro players stayed out for a warm-down to allow the Town players and Gary Brockwell to take their fans applause. Then as Garry and the players left the field they faced a barrage of boos from Town fans. I would guess their club approcahed us for the fixture as a good crowd (which turned up) would help the player in his testimonial. Some at Town have made noises re: co-operation between the 2 clubs for the good of Eastbourne football. If that is what they think of us then I hope we reject any approaches from the club in the future. At the end of the day it was a pre-season - was it really that important a game to show up their club in that way !

I dont know who the second half left back was but I think he looks a promising replacement for Jenks. The second half was v. disjointed. The strikers seemed isolated and did not get the support that "last seasons" squad gave in the first 45. Harkin looks very good down the left flank, Wormull worth persevering with, but I was hoping he would have more influence further up the pitch, worrying amount of times he lost possession in dangerous areas. Siguere looked very limited on the night and should not get a place unless he earns it. He wont hack it in BSP on tonights evidence. Ironically, the midfield on show in the first 45 totally ran the game but were all over the place after the break. What have we learnt from this? And identity of second half keeper please? The PA system was too much for me. Perhaps ours is not so bad.

Second half keeper was Josh Willis (age 19) previously with Sittingbourne.

Jamie Lovegrove was the second half left back - former Crawley Town player. Marc Pullen damaged his ankle at Training on tuesday, hence his non show. main sponsor is rumoured to be.............. Andy Atkin, Simon Wormull and Matt Smart were the pick of the bunch for us. Defence needs most attention. IMO. Pre season games only give you a sniff of an idea as to what might be. Town did well 2nd half.

I stopped by midway through the first half just to see how things were progressing, it looked like there was quite a lot of people! Shame about the final score, but I guess that's the point in the first gfames to see the weakness!

the need for new defenders has now been addressed, in the second half we watched as school boy defending ruined a good first half performance ! dominic douglas and andy ballard just didnt work together and I don't feel either one would be prem standard anyway, thought the triallist left bak looked good though, nice to see atkin netting goals as usual! but not sure who he's going to be playing up front with as allan tait, well let's not even go there! didn't look good , but worryingly sigere looked a lazier version of rambo and looked very uncomfortable on the ball and a liablility really, good also to see chris winterton between the sticks in the 1st half , I definately think he can cut it! but now is not the time to make judgements as it's only the first game, however their is much evidence to be worried for the season ahead, especially at the back! let's hope it get's fixed and we get some signings in asap

Well an interesting game at Town last night. Of the new signings, thought that Winterton was impressive though he likes a 'walkabout'. Wormull looks like a good prospect and would be a more dominant player than Budd in midfield, Harkin might be a good signing but looked a little lost, but its early days. The biggest worry is Siguere. He looks like a lazy 'make weight' hardly out to set a good first impression. He needs to look at Atkin or Jenkins for an example or 'ship out' On the first train to ANYWHERE. Lets also hope that we never have to rely on the second half back four.

What changes were made at half time? It would appear that everything was going swimmingly until that point. I would like to believe that G and N will be mixing and matching the etam to find what they believe is the best starting eleven. I am not so concerned about the defence as others seem to be largely due to the fact that by and large the defence was pretty tight last year. i think there is sufficient ability with the players currently at the club to get off to a reasonable start. There are good teams at this level and I'm sure that Borough will hold their own. The time to worry is when a few results have gone against us.
