Very good performance considering the conditions. Leslie,Paxman,Sherrif and number 23 one of the trialists was good. Finney and Uche were injured. Bridgeman scored a brilliant goal. Just needs to click upfront.

I was worried by Leslie at first, he seemed to go to ground too quickly but he grew into the game. My early impressions of the team are that the fullbacks don’t seem on the same level as other positions - we’ve had some great fullbacks in recent years

The new system will be a 352 so Leslie will be playing at left cb in that wide centre half role. But I feel we might need another centre half. A really physical one.

A decent enough game, it is clear they want to play a quick passing game as proved by the goal, which was by all accounts a belter.
However the 3 at the back were far too stretched and not supported enough by the inverted wingback especially in the first half and down the Borough left. Attacking wise they looked far better when the wingback were on natural.side and provided greater width and thus space for attackers to utilise. Feel that they need a strong guy up top to hold the ball up and then the quick front men can play off him. I liked the look of Clarke in second half he looked calm and composed and got around pitch well. The midfield got overran in first half as it went on. Paxman did show some nice touches but also overplayed at times and needed to release the ball quicker, but sure that will come. Flicks and tricks look great but got to be done in and at the right times. Things look good for the season especially if they can put together a consistent performance and in my humble.opinion keep the wide men on natural.side and try avoid inverting them as this narrows the pitch and leaves back 3 more vulnerable.

Also thought Jay Beckford had one of his better games, I worry for Shiloh a bit though - far from the main man he was last year, hope they can find a role for him

I think the worry for a ‘20 goal striker’ isn’t important with this team.
We have a very capable set of forwards in Gravata, Remy, Holman, Sheriff, Bridgman, Vukoje and Vigar. Goals will be shared between them all. With the midfielders also chipping in with a few here and there also.
I get the idea Mark is trying to build a team based around team goals, with everyone playing a part instead of a pair of lone goal scorers, so I’m not worried where the goals will come from.
All that needs to happen now is the team to gel and learn the patterns Mark is trying to introduce and we’ll be up there that’s for sure!
