After reading some of the posts on here, I thought i would start this thread. I have stayed quiet about it but i saw a post by Murphy on the BBC Website thread and thought thats enough. We dont want this forum to become a laughing stock amongst the league through in-fighting like the Lewes forum has in the past. Rumours lead to discussion which I thought what forums are for. Im sure there will be lots of backing for Vern to carry on posting what he hears about the club. A forum without rumours (true or false) this time of season is a very boring forum. Keep it up Vern!!!

rather childish and hardly cutting edge stuff .plenty of people know what he posts but have the good sense to keep it to themselves. I prefer it if he left it to the club to control the flow of information. When the deals are done they tell us which is the way it should be.

I'm a bit bemused. Are you angry because of the private messages. Or suggesting that if anyone, like me, who hears something, should keep anyone who's interested up to date?? Sorry, don't quite get your post. I'll keep info to myself. Less hassle. i think this forum needs more jokes and more discussions about the wrongs and rights of the Chinese Olympics and Q: Is Boris the right leader for the city of London?? Give us a break...

Keep posting the rumors vern . That is what unofficial forums are for, rumour ,gossip and opinions without these why have a forum just read the official site !

I suppose Sam has a point. There is so much discussion about transfer news down any pub you care to mention in the Langney and Westham / Pevensey area, that I'm surprised that the Herald hasn't heard yet. We know how Ken McEwan and Argus Journo's will print most things, unsubstantiated or otherwise. If you propose that we keep quite, what about blabbing Committee members and player's? who's keeping them quite? This one piece of info came from two different directions.

Sorry! re-read the thread. Understand now. I agree, what the heck are forums for if you simply wait to get drip fed from the Official site. Derrrrrr! This would be the only football forum showing such obedience, in the known Universe....

Personally, I find it all rather tiresome! You have been round the club along time and in different roles,so I would be interested as to what your views are on "the purpose of the fans forum"

:)keep going Vern, I will be interested in David's views I was a bit surprised by Sir David's contribution. I too am not sure what he thinks the purpose of a fans forum is (apart from plugging his smashing and worthy book - not taking the Michael, honest!)

I don't see what harm there is whispering (by the power of pm) to fellow fans, who have promised to keep their cake hole's shut. If you don't want to know, don't ask for a pm, simple. I've not gobbed off down the pub so everyone can listen to my (Boro') chat

As I said, I just find it all rather tiresome and don't see that it serves any useful purpose rather than giving people something to talk about during the close season, when to be honest (apart from having a book to plug) I just want to forget about football for a few weeks and recharge my batteries. We all know how the Club works ... it doesn't "drip feed" information as someone suggested, it merely releases factual information as and when appropriate. Sure, there may the odd occasion when it appears somewhere else first due to Lee being away from his PC but at the end of day I'm only interested in fact, not rumour or speculation, and am happy to wait for the Club to tell me. It's a personal view but sorry guys, all this "I heard it from a reliable source", "my mate is friends with so-and-so and he says ..." just doesn't float my boat. As for the purpose of a Club Forum: well, of course they all thrive on this sort of stuff but (and again this is merely a personal view) I am more interested in intelligent debate about who we have signed rather than who we may have signed. PS. Thanks for the knighthood Vern ... and please, buy the book

Carry on Vern. I now where DB is coming from but this is why I join football forums, to read rumour and speculation as well as intelligent debate.

I wonder if Lee has plans to change the format of this forum? I for one would like to see us adopt a similar model to the Lewes forum where they have a number of different boards. The Pitch, supporters club.footballing world and the terraces. It seems to work well for them and it would mean that if Murphy wished to raise a moral and political debate about China for example he could in the appropriate board,[We could have a anything else board The second point I would like to raise is in response to David's comment. I am not surprised that he wants a break from football at present as he has had a hectic few weeks,{vern follow me and buy the book!!!!] but I want to put the debate into context. The context is simple that we as supporters of the Boro are entering into uncharted waters and some of us want any snippet of information that we can get and our not that bothered how we get it.This is the most exciting period that any of us have experienced with the club and like the club are all moving forward whether its new ground or new forums. So for me it's not tiresome it's very very exciting and Vern how about us posting who we think we have signed??

I wonder if Lee has plans to change the format of this forum? For what it's worth, Lee Peskett doesn't run the forum, only the official website. The admin of this board is, I believe, called 'Phantom'.
