vern, I have to agree with the others on the forum, let's all stop playing chinese whispers and for gods sake if you've got something to say let us all in on it! I'm sure the hundreds of people that read this forum a day would like to know the latest rumours and speculation! thats the point of a forum! it's called discussion not secrets! and also let me assure you the local papers would not be interested in the rumours on a supporters forum as they could be just made up! and having been on work experience in a local newspaper, they don't read internet sites, they will interview club members by phone or in person or investigate in person through the other press

i guess that would be number 3 but feels like number 2. And guessing the age of the posters contributing the pompous opinions on here, you know who you are, we could be in number 1 and 4!

Everyone's got to contribute. Other posters have got to raise their heads above the parapet too.

No club enjoys having a mole! Another club in Sussex has had this problem and it is not good for the club or the players it can effect. At this time of year players go out to get contracts, and to find people like Vern saying things like XXX was seen at xxx club is not good. Players should be able to have interviews at the clubs and not meet at other local establishments to avoid people like him! This does happen!! As a keen supporter all I wish is to know who we have signed and trust the management that he is good for us. Welcome to our latest addition, I have seen him play in the past and I see it as another good signing.

Gossip down the pub, a friend overhearing blabbing player's and committee members in the pub / club. Shameless, stop playing the "morality" police. This is an unofficial forum; where discussions take place about Eastbourne Borough.....Oh yes, and wizard jokes and and and world politics!!! What do you propose we do on here but discuss what we hope for and have heard Close Season? This is a rhetorical question, don't feel compelled to respond. We live in a democracy, so I guess that those who have responded want to hear and contribute news, see posts above.

As I said, I just find it all rather tiresome and don't see that it serves any useful purpose rather than giving people something to talk about during the close season, when to be honest (apart from having a book to plug) I just want to forget about football for a few weeks and recharge my batteries. We all know how the Club works ... it doesn't "drip feed" information as someone suggested, it merely releases factual information as and when appropriate. Sure, there may the odd occasion when it appears somewhere else first due to Lee being away from his PC but at the end of day I'm only interested in fact, not rumour or speculation, and am happy to wait for the Club to tell me. It's a personal view but sorry guys, all this "I heard it from a reliable source", "my mate is friends with so-and-so and he says ..." just doesn't float my boat. As for the purpose of a Club Forum: well, of course they all thrive on this sort of stuff but (and again this is merely a personal view) I am more interested in intelligent debate about who we have signed rather than who we may have signed. Agreed, keep it professional! Players do not want to see leeks about themselves which are or can be incorrect. Believe me it has happened.

What, is someone handing out comically-shaped vegetables at the Lane, something like "That's Life"?
IMO, most players would probably prefer to be talked about, accurately or not, than be ignored!
The role of a forum should simply be to exchange views, opinions, ideas and gossip. This is an unofficial forum, so the views ect exchanged should be unofficial. If you only want to hear official news, sometime after it has been officially announced, then don't come here, go to the official club site.
If you want a bit of a laugh, hear the latest wild ideas, even have a dig at the club when you think they've got it wrong (I think they got it right with Rambo, although the memories will always be there, but I would have moved heavena nd earth to keep Adam Wilde, who, imo, was the most under-estimated player in the squad and definate BSP-quality), albeit with a large pinch of salt and many tongues firmly in cheeks, then come here!

Yup sums it up for me.Ps Len is meeting with Garry on Wednesday so we might get an update on players. I understand that Garry and Nick might want to hold on to some of the playing budget in case we need to strengthen later in the season. makes sense to me.

The club could well need further finances to call upon down the line.
