I'll miss us having the best ground in the division.
I'll miss the (relatively) short journeys to away games; now I'll have to decide if I can make an away game a few weeks in advanve, not at ten o'clock on Saturday morning.
I'll miss chatting to visiting fans; not sure what the rules are, but most BSP games seem to be segregated, which is a pity in my book.
I'll miss Fisher Athletic, and not just for the guaranteed three points a game or trying to guess how long Charley Hearn will last before getting a red card. I like going to Fisher - it's fun looking around the terraces. Has anyone else noticed how 85% of the home fans look like they are auditioning for a role as extras in an Only Fools and Horses episode, probably from the first series? L:ast year I swear that over half the home fans were wearing sheepskin coats and had digital watches. I'll miss their burgers too!
I'll miss Newport County. Now we have to go to North Wales when we visit the land of dragons, daffodils and male voice choirs. And Newport fans are much friedlier than their northern cousins. Wrexham are a mean bunch, always looking for a fight with the English - but don't be afraid. I've had a word with a couple of lads at work who follow Millwall, and, for a very reasonable fee, they can loan us twenty of the Bushwacker Youth when we visit Wrexham, to even things up a bit!
I hope I don't have to miss our drums, but I suspect that some BSP clubs will take a snooty attitude and not let them through the gates.
I'll miss the decent attitude of the Southern division. Too many BSP games that I've seen have been ruined (for me) by players thinking that they play for Chelsea, and spending the entire game diving in the box or rolling around as if shot by a sniper whenever they lose the ball. At least this season only Lewes did that!
I'll miss the early rounds of the cup competitions - next year we might not play a single team from a league below the Blue Square South. I love travelling to the weird places to see teams that you thought only existed in fairy tales, watching the game from a grass bank, under a tree; even when we lose (memories of Haverhill).
I wonder f I'll miss our tarditional Christmas of turkey, too much brandy, and two games against our little kid brother from down the road (desperately trying to look all grown up, now he has got a shiny new stand).
I'll miss a lot of things, including, most like, a few players; but I'm sure I'll get used to it, esepecially when we lift the BSP league winners trophy. Maybe not next season, but we will!
