Interesting game. First 15-20 minutes they were all over us, but actually didn't test our keeper. Then the penalty.. was it a penalty? I didn't think so.. I don't even think they were protesting? Two fairly soft yellow cards for our first sending off. Game looks gone. Boro wonder goal out of nothing. Go into half time 1-1.
Second half, we're reduced to 9 (not a good tackle, have less complaints about this one). From this point onward it's basically survival, try and sneak a point. Inevitably the advantage in numbers eventually counts and the goals start flowing in the last few minutes, to give a slightly flattering gloss in favour of Maidstone.
At the start of the game I would've seen this game as a difficult one to pick up points from but I can't help but feel the referee made some questionable decisions which unduly influenced the game (the penalty in particular). You need some decisions when you're scrapping at the bottom and none seemed to go our way. That being said, Maidstone missed quite a few gilt-edged chances and should really have put the game to bed sooner.
In any case, Dartford lost too, so it's all riding on Monday. Massive game.

The ref was poor but at some point we also need to admit that our discipline has hampered us this season. The new manager has made us harder to beat and harder to dominate but that must be about 6 reds since he’s been here. It didn’t take long to realise that back chat would get a booking today and we kept going with it even once down to 9. At one point when the Maidstone bench got animated their manager gave them all a bollocking and told them to not to rise to it. What we keep hearing, even from the CEO and owner is how poor the refereeing is, but the reality is it won’t change and we have to get a bit wiser on the pitch.
Anyway, for me I thought man for man we actually played well. It was only when it got to 3-1 that it was really over. Maidstone had to work hard until. I agree was always going to be hard to get points today. The Dartford game our biggest game of the season so far.

The late goals that we shipped against Maidstone could come back to haunt us, a win Saturday now a must with only 3 games remaining but credit the sprit and determination the group has shown to turn this season round it will feel like a promotion if we stay up.

Yep. Taunton have a slightly better goal difference than us.. didn't actually think it'd come down to that, but if they win one and lose one in their next two, then it'll really go down to the wire. We need a good result on Saturday, that's for sure.
