Not only is there no sub keeper but actually no sub defenders or defensive midfielders. Subs are Clarke, Paxman, Sheriff, Holman, Gravata!

Honestly, the « we should be beating » line gets a bit tiresome. We literally tore up a good well-established team from last season and started a rebuild almost completely from scratch. We may be full-time but you can’t wave a magic wand and expect immediate results away from home against a team who just registered a 4-1 win two days beforehand. I wanted a win as much as the next person, but Rome wasn’t built in a day.. let’s dust ourselves down, hopefully learn from today and get fired up for Bath. Still a long way to go..

It’s a very long season and bonding pre season will only do so much. It’s tough games like this where players have to rely on each other and pick themselves up. It will make future wins all the sweeter. Any illusion that promotion would be easy is now gone. Maybe we all needed that.

Watched the stream and firstly I must say that Aveley are the type of team that you have got to have your best defenders fit for and the whole team has got to be up to the physical fight for first and second balls and be prepared to run fast the whole game and then show some quality in the final third .... we failed to do this. We looked better with the experience of Clarke and Paxman on the pitch second half. Beckford was not right for this game and lost the ball several times. Why we did not stick to Gravata on the left and Remy on the right baffles me.
Interesting to see if Averley can keep it going or they will be sussed out. They have got Worthing away on Saturday so that will give us an idea of relative strengths.

Knew they would be a physical side. Perhaps, wrong selections were made but we did need to rest players. Aveley will be very good at home all season.monday nights will benefit them.

Worthing have a new investor and will be moving to full time in the near future. Be interesting to see how we react to this if this season comes to nothing, the league is just going to get tougher and tougher!
