I can't say I was particularly surprised to hear that Anthony Storey has been released.
He was a player who generally gave 100% in almost every game but on occasions looked to be a bit of a loose cannon who was prepared to give a bit of 'afters' and could also fall a bit too easily to get a free kick. There did seem to be a bit of a problem between him and the management after he had been subbed in the match at the Lane and was then dropped to the bench for the last couple of games.
That said he would get through a hell of a lot of work and at times kept the midfield going.
With the other players already released we do not have an obvious replacement so there must be a new signing in the offing who would no doubt receive the wages saved by releasing Anthony.

Always rated Storey. Quality dead ball specialist and took over the penalty taking duties with great success. Agree a bit of a loose cannon but had a cocky swagger which I liked. Never did take too kindly to being subbed, but who does! Looks like Atkin will have a big part to play next season then unless another central midfielder signed. Interested to see where Anthony ends up.

Just had a thought, is Piercey the replacement for Storey...... funny you should think that. My mate lives beneath Piercey and told me that he'd seen him doing alot of fitness / jogging round St Annes Road. Maybe nothing. Maybe he is trying to improve his fitness levels to perform at a higher level of the pyramid...with The Sports

I for one am really surprised! His free-kick skills were a real bonus this season. I guess something was not right behind the scenes? We can only hope that a player of equal or even better ability is lined up. Good luck Anthony.

Heard he's gone back to Lewes!! Hope he remembers how we chanted his name at Lewes away when he was getting loads of stick from the Lewes fans.

I think that anthony storey was great for the club. when ollie rowland got injured he took over the penalty responsibilities well. 12 goals (10 pens) is a good return for a player who used to play for lewes and i watched him in warm ups and his ball skills are amazing, he was good at 3kicks. good luck ant.
