Mitch Light slams a double to knock down Hastings!
Central defender and WWE fan Mitch Light brought out the John Cena celebration twice on Thursday night as Eastbourne Borough kept up their unbeaten run in the Ryman u18 league.
The home side had a couple of early chances as Boro started slowly but George Legg made two good saves to keep them out. As 'Boro's slick passing style took shape Hastings were pinned back and after a corner on the right and a goalmouth scramble Mitch smashed in his first of the night.
On 25 minutes playmaker Jacob Merrick put the away side two up with a well taken goal after catching Hastings on the break. The half continued in the same style as both sides played good football on a lovely surface (credit to the groundsman as it was underwater earlier in the day) but it stayed the same until the break.
An expected onslaught was stopped in its tracks as Boro' forced a corner 3 minutes in to the second half. Bright Temba played the ball short to Josh Pickering who took on the defender and crossed for Mad Mitch to head in his second from point blank range leading to his now familiar 'you can't see me' celebration.
The yellows were clearly enjoying themselves even as the tackles were flying in and seemingly finished the game off when MOM Bright slotted a left foot curler away in the corner on 55.
To their credit Hastings kept working and got one back on 58 minutes as Boro lost concentration. After 65 a very bad tackle changed the atmosphere and seemed to unsettle Boro for a while and after 6 substitutions the game became disjointed. In stoppage time and with the month lay-off showing in Boro's legs the home side got 2 more goals back to make the final score 3 - 4 but a wins a win and that means 3 on the spin away from home for Boro' and a good performance to build on too.
