Central defender Mitch Light got one of the goals in Boro's home 2-2 draw with a very good Lewes side.
After a couple of weeks without playing the home side started slowly and were under pressure for ten minutes until they found their feet.
On 22 minutes and with possibly their first shot on goal the reds went ahead after a defensive slip. Our scouting reports identified something we could work on and it paid off , Corey Wheeler slotting home calmly.
The rest of the half was mainly Lewes keeping the ball and Boro containing and trying to hit on the counter.
Half time came and went but the team talk fell on deaf ears as another point that was flagged up in reports was the Lewes danger from set pieces. A corner went to an unmarked head and he nodded in .
However, the home sides spirit and resolve has got a lot better in recent weeks and after forcing a corner on 55 minutes, Ryan Gilbert and Bright Temba combined short to swing the ball in and as it came out to the edge of the box Mitch was on hand to control perfectly and shoot low and hard into the Lewes net .
Lewes continued to press and force stand in keeper Dan Hutchins into a couple of good saves.
Ryley Tate came on for Steve Turner to shore up the midfield with 20 minutes to go but this changed the momentum and invited Lewes on. Boro didn't close down on the edge of the box and a scuffed shot, slightly deflected, got past an unsighted Dan to equalize.
Jacob Merrick and Jacob Marsh came on with 15 to go to try to get the win but Lewes finished strongly and the whole Boro side defended well for the last part of the game and probably deserved a point for their endeavour at least.
