I heard that Steve King; ref Argus, was looking at some local players to bring to the Pan. Those players appear to have been Crabby and Ben Austin. This is only a rumour, but on good authority, that they were offered a signing on fee and good wage. But, Crabb has committed himself to The Sports and Ben is not a big fan of the "Special One", apparently, so I hope Ben stays, as I think he is one of the best player's that Boro have. ...obviously this is a rumour, so could be a load of tosh! then again

Do you have a link? I cant find anything on Argus website. Sorry, no. But I heard this rumour at the Braintree game. Someone subsequently told me that they had read, in a Local paper, that Lewes's SK was looking at unspecified local player's to strengthen his team. It could be Sussex Express paper I guess??

Even if it is a rumour it wouldn't be a surprise to find SK sniffing around PL or anywhere else with his (or rather Martyn Elliott's) wad in hand. Rambo had the good sense to turn him down last season but given some of the sums that have been offered by Lewes to players that Borough were looking to sign in the past (and I have that on good authority), there is no way we could compete. All we can do is rely on players' loyalty.
Could new Sussex Express editor Brian Pollard merely be trying to do his job for his new bosses by a promoting a little speculation.

After this season, I'd be surprised if every single Boro player wasn't on the Lewes 'radar'! I'd also be surprised if any of them would be seriously tempted - Lewes is pretty much the Kiss of Death for NL footballers, and by the number of players they have had this season - eight GK's wasn't it? - players must average about six games before they are thrown out.
I wouldn't think many people would want to swop Priory Lane for the Bed Pan, certainly none with any ambition.
That said, the squad that Lewes have finished up with does look like a very decent one, and one that, if it is kept together, should be pushing for a play-off place next season, at the very least. They produced some excellent performances in the last dozen or so games of the season, and at times really looked like championship material. But, of course, the last two years Lewes have ended the season with a squad that was in with a shout of the top spot, and then culled them in the close season and replaced 75% of the players for the new season, then repeated the cull at least once before Christmas and once after, so, on past form, at least eight new first team players can be expected to arrive at the Bed Pan, and a similar number can be expected to leave.
If so, can we have Holloway and Lee Farrell, please? I believe Holloway has been chased by more than one League outfit, but wants to remain a part-time player due to business committments (he runs a building firm or some such), otherwise he would be snapped up in League Two straightaway, and Farell is, imo, amongst the three best strikers at this level. If he wasn't deaf, he would also be playing in League Two, or higher. Two players who would fit in nicely at Priory Lane, and no revolving door!

I saw Lewes v Farnborough and the Lewes defence were comical. The Boro No 9 had an open goal, after sything effortlessly passed Leon Legge and the Left Back and scuffed the ball!! A poor attack let off a poor defence. Craig O'connor, I think, scored a 86 minute goal...v. lucky, definitely not good. Hence SK is trawling the local teams i.e. The Sports, with a hope of grafting our defence onto his First team......nothing like adding a tried and tested defence, to your team, when you haven't been able to develop a decent defence all season!!

As for Ben and Matt, it appears that they have both signed for The Sports....so much for that close season worry!
