Congradulations on what has been a great season for Eastbourne Borough Football Club! After all the dissapointments of last season and the possibility of another scrap this season (though i never thought so) we have done exceptionally well. We hold the seasons record for unbeaten runs (14) and the fans have been brilliant again as usual and arguarbly the best in the league!
Lets hope that next season brings up the same excitement as this season. Thanks Borough

In a way, it was a good thing that we didnt make the play offs. Who would we been able to pick to start with?

Thanks to ALL at the Club, players, management, officials, fans!!! A cracking season....after Haverhill Rovers, who'd have dreamed the dramatic finale, and the brink of the Play Offs - pure drama and guts..........looking forward to next season and building on this massive potential - shame that the Club didn't get all the funding it wanted from the FA for the pitch!!!! let's hope that Ben Austin stays at Eastbourne Borough for next seasons campaign and doesn't go down the road!!

Huge well done to everyone today. What an effort these past two weeks considering our players are part-time(premiership "we play too many games a season"softies hang your heads)! It's been a pleasure to see our brand of 'sexy' football return this season, and with a little more luck on the injury front we might of made it. Does anyone know why Ben was red carded at the end? It looked as though he was going for the ref?

It really was just a game too far today. Braintree were worth their victory but I can't help but think we would have been too good for them with a reasonably full-strength side that wasn't knackered after three tough games in the previous six days. It also seems reasonable to assume that the fixture backlog scuppered Newport as well, unless of course they simply buckled under the weight of expectation.
As I have said in a previous post, why on earth can't we play more midweek games in August, September & October in an attempt to prevent this sort of congestion at the end of the season? Sure, we had problems with the pitch but there were plenty of other clubs playing catch-up as well, and not only those that were waiting to play us !
Anyway, now that rant is over (again) many congratulations to all the players & management who have done the club proud this season (we'll overlook the FA Cup). We now have a good springboard for an exciting campaign next season and, with a slightly bigger squad (funds permitting) there is no reason why we shouldn't be there or thereabouts if we can continue playing the sort of football we've seen over the past few months.

I don't doubt for a minute that we can't build on what we have now. I really do believe that if we keep our current squad, plus one or two, we will be challenging for the title next season! What does worry me is how we struggle when we get injuries. We obviously have a tight budget compared to other teams, and Gary has worked wonders with it this season. The biggest problem when we have so many first teamers out is the huge gulf between them and the reserves, the 'A' league was supposed to help but that died after one season! I do wish the SCFA would come out of the dark ages and allow the reserve squads of senior teams to compete in the county league like every other county FA in the country.

I heartedly endorse what has already been said. To be perfectly honest with the squad we had today we didn't stand much chance against a side who last played a week ago. A valid argument put forward by DB that we should surely be playing matches in the early months of the season when evenings are mild, pitches are good and we have a chance of attracting reasonable crowds rather than so many at the end which does assist those that manage to get their games in.
The play-offs will be interesting as I haven't seen a team in the league this year who I believe will set the Blue Square Conference alight next year without heavy financial investment. Some of our football this season has been stunning and the current squad is strong without a weak link. I agree that if we can keep the team together with two or three additions we will certainly be challenging for the title next season.
The club has stability with a strong management team who continue to get 100% from the players. Gary, Nick and team have done a stirling job and at times the players have stunned the opposition with the passing game which has upset most of the top teams.
I for one have really enjoyed this season and look forward to 2007/8 with enthusiasm. As this year there will be some strong teams coming up from the Ryman and Southern leagues who will keep us on our toes.
Thanks guys - you've done us proud! ;D

Definately a game too far. The players were exhausted, injuries meant we were almost playing a reserve squad, the lads who came on in the second hald didn't seem to know where the other players were (I suspect they had hardly practiced together before hand) and we were just not in the game. A real pity, as Newport lost, but as has been said, could we really expect them to be able to play another three games and give a fair account of themselves? Maybe it's all for the best. We should be pushing for a play-off place next season (and if the new lad from Hailsham plays well alongside Tait, and if Tait plays quality footballl all season, we could well be taking the top spot), we can hope for qa good run in at least one competition, whereas if we had gone up we would probably be in a season-long relegation struggle. Here's to the lads success next season, and maintaining a Premier League place after that!
