Does that mean that Deano is going to start vs Basingstoke? Or will Horsham let us play Gareth Williams and play their other keeper instead?

There is only one way to describe tonights game... we were played off the park by the best team we have faced this season!!! Newport were quick and very creative and we had no answer to their fast passing game. Yes we created a few chances but nothing that really troubled the county defence. If this was meant to be a team tired from playing Monday night at thurrock, it didn't show. The number 10 was a real handful and his speed etc resulted in Hooky walking for bringing him down. No complaints about the score.. it reflected exactly what went on! Is Hooky out for any games ?? I have no idea. Maybe he is still suffering with that injured shoulder/ right arm. Is the injury affecting how far he can reach??? 7 goals conceded in 2 games is unlike Hooky or our defence! Maybe injuries etc are catching up with our small squad now... Who Knows... we still have an very small outside chance of nicking berth 5 but what ever happens, a good all round season... plus i still haven't looked up how to get to Halifax, Tamworth etc etc etc.....

Having seen the Sutton game and reading Jim's view of the Newport game I think that the tiny squad and the inevitable injuries and the worst suspension...our one true goalkeeper, who can compete at this level, we've all but missed out this season on another dream Play Off berth. I think that the players have IMO exceeded all expectations...the betting odds at the beginning of the season for Eastbourne to be successful were v.long. Somehow, in the summer, I hope that we can build on this seasons successes and find the means to get a bigger squad, here's an idea ----> get a RESERVE side up and running; as this will help to fill in the gaps, the U18's look useful!!!! but, keeping the majority of the current players. I do hope that GnN agree that somehow we need to find and develop a faster attack and find a keeper that can challenge Lee for his jersey, but not necessarily the pink one!!

...and work on defending set pieces, corners - as these are always potential banana skins. Making the best of our throw ins too.....but apart from this we were fab...the stats don't lie!

Having not been at either Sutton or Newport I cannot comment on the performances but it appears clear that we are suffering from having to play so many away games in a short period of time, compounded by a very small squad that has little time to recover in between matches.
Obviously the books have to balance and yes, we have experienced the pitch problems that we are all aware of. However - and as Garry has stated in the press - one wonders why, at this level of the Pyramid, clubs find themselves having to play 'catch-up' at this stage of the season. Clubs are effectively penalised for postponements and good cup runs.
At County League level the early rounds of the FAC and FAV mean that midweek slots may have to be kept vacant for replays whilst Saturdays early in the season are taken up with cup fixtures. However, we do not have this problem (not even a League Cup competition) yet we find ourselves with lots of spare Tues & Weds with no football early in the season - Why?
Similarly, surely it is not beyond a simple fixture programme to ensure that long distance Saturday fixtures are not scheduled for FAC or FAT weekends? as there is a good chance they will be postponed. And whilst I'm at it, why on earth do we play Bognor on a Saturday?
And SCFL fans moan about Peter Bentley!

I must congratulate your fans for their support last night. Although there wasn't many who made the long weekday journey you made plenty of noise.
Your few fans made more noise than Salisbury managed last Sat even when they were winning 3-1.
Not sure if you even joined in with us a few times ;D
