The Club are using a qualified Greenkeeper who is excellent at what he does...resurrecting the boggy pitch (the flanks). The good work was set back, but that is another story. However, the good work continues and maybe, just maybe, we'll have a part time pro - greenkeeper to look after the pitch in the future. This will prevent or reduce the risk of financial losses incurred, in the seasons ahead, due to an unplayable playing surface. Sam, I hope that this version is easier to comprehend.

I'm not sure how much I can say, as I know a fair amount about the massive effort to make the pitch playable. One of my friends, as it so happens, has been working morning, day and night; against the weather, to work a miracle. He is an American from Minnesota with a flair for greenkeeping: working on a number of Golf Courses, highly qualified, blah blah blah. A few hiccups enroute, which I will not speculate about, as it may cause others (good intentioned) embarrassment....and I wasn't there, and have only heard this from others. Anyhow, I hope that the relationship between the Club and J' work out, that they can work together, sort a means of the Club getting a (Part time?) Pro Greenkeeper to make sure that this season becomes a bad memory and that we (supporters) / the Footy team can plan to make its way up the footy pyramid. It appears that the postponed games (source: Herald) has cost the Club £tens of thousands. A much smaller investment, I guess, would reduce this financial nightmare occuring next year!! J' does not know that I have posted this, and I hope that there is nothing in it that can't be discussed / viewed by concerned fans. Blimey - easier to understand the kiddies txt talk than that lot

I heard on the grapevine that we may have the Groundsman till the end of the season, but the Clubs funds may not be able to stretch to the extent of retaining him for next season. [you]IDEA for DISCUSSION:[/you] Maybe the Supporters / Away Committee could sponsor the pitch? and raise funds during the year / close season to pay for a part time Groundsman to give the team a pitch that compliments our teams ability to play great football on the ground and is entertaining to watch. It appears that a number of ambitious Clubs at our standard / level have a Pro - Groundsman to provide the above. Why can't we join them? I'm sure if enough supporters are interested then we could organise to raise the necessary funds and help the Club out!!
