Full time 1-0 boro. Dont know who scored. Matt smart after 17 seconds. Goal resulted from good passing play without any Fisher player actually touching the ball until the keeper picked it out net. Though we put on a great display toady and could have had anything up to 5 or 6 if not for the woodwork and some excellent goalkeeping from the Fisher number 1. No wonder he was named their man of the match. Despite Fisher going to down to 10 men after their N0 6 stupidly head butted Smart right in front of the ref, we couldn't fully make our extra man advantage count. We did play some wonderful passing attacking football but that darn keeper earned more than just his wages today!!! Thought that Darren be and Marc P were superb at the back showing another solid clean sheet. Man of match in my opinion was Andy Atkin, didnt give up running right thru the 90 mins, and just edged Matt Smart out for it... Although we had the very early goal, the rest of the match was very entertaining and a good advert for Conf Sth. Fingers crossed for a nice draw come Monday lunchtime ....

Pics from the game plus a few brief notes have now been added to the Pyramid Passion site at www.pyramidpassion.co.uk/html/snapshots__fisher_athletic_-_d.htmlThere are a couple of decent action shots but for the most part I try to capture the atmosphere of a match (and obviously, the ground). Good to see so many Borough supporters at the game. Dare I say it .. but at times I thought we looked play-off candidates yesterday - yes I know it was a cup tie - with good performances (agree about Atkin) all over the pitch. I understand that some Fisher supporters were referring to Smarty as a 'tart' after he appeared to go down rather theatrically holding his head. Nevertheless, a butt is still a butt and there were no disagreements about that ... I wouldn't necessarily disagree with the 'tart' description though: ear muffs, hair braids, and the imfamous single leather glove all spring to mind! ;D
