I think I would ask Tait who he plays best with him. I think I know the answer, but he's injured.

Agreed, most of NC's goals have been easy ones, which means he has been in the right place to receive at the time. Taits superb unselfish deliveries will create quite a few goals if the ball is got up front. I would like to see Tait in the box more, but I get the impression he is instructed to stay back a tash to get the ball to others. Surely that is the job of midfieild players. If Nathan conserved his energy more he could be good for more than 20mins, but he seems to love running like a headless chicken, often after silly balls. This maybe good for the media, but not for his own sustainability! He will learn and grow into a decent player.

The good thing is that we have options. Each has its merits & limitations. Tait - Good - distribution and experience. Poor - pace, finishing and attitude when things go bad NC - Good goal poacher, great pace good attitude & confidence obviously high. Poor - naive and agree needs to conserve energy Siggy - Not seen a lot to convince me that he is a Conference standard player. Iggy - Obviously has pace, vision and great ball control. Should be a great asset whilst Atkins is out. Boro's options are however limited as he is only with us for limited time and we cannot become too dependant on him. He is also being played cautiously under instruction from Reading as he is returning from a long term back injury. Atkins - Cannot wait to get him back.

It is good that with sigere and atkin injured we still have a choice. I think i would still start nathan. I know he is an impact player for the second half, but he is a threat and i think tait plays better with him on. Not much between tait and the ice man but tait has been playing well lately. Although to have a reading player on loan and not use him much is a bit of a waste. Im on the fence. What do you think DB.

Why on earth didn't they bring him on straight after Histon scored, annoys me that they went for the draw.
Oh well another point in the bag

I thought that Tait did OK today at what he did I.E a target man who can lay off the ball but he is no striker. Frightened to shoot and no pace. Should maybe be playing just behind a front two. NC was largly innefective today you can see why he has ben better brought on late to run at tired defenders. I cannot get my head around GW's substitutions. so predictable time wise and not understandable (Mo Hakin) the one really creative player who kept Boro driving forward. Think that we may lose Iggy to injury, looked like a nasty knee twist from where I was. Hurry up AA and get fit. Thank heavans for our back four and midfield who seem comfortable & able to cope at this level

In a nutshell we ain't quite firing up front yet. Most people seem to find a way of criticising Tait because he is 'slow'. Well he ain't that slow and the reason he might look so is because he is having to run so far!! He is expected to get back to collect the ball from midfield flick it on/lay it back and then get forward to knock it in!!! Just not possible although he does his best and nobody else in the team can provide all he does. GW knows this which is why Tait is the first striker on the team sheet.
Frankly, and I know Nathan has done quite well, the problem is that Tait just isn't getting the support. Atkin injured, Sigere injured/disappointing, Iggy, well the jury is out after the Histon game, great touch/ skill but no results.
Bit of a rant, but had to put up with idiot in the crowd yesterday. Apparently, Tait is "too slow and can't score goals at this level"(scored 15 for Crawley at conf level i think). Crabb is" immature too small and chases lost causes" (our top scorer I believe). Sigere is the "key" apparently. Taxi.............

I find it incredible that a few people watching the matches start criticizing almost from kick off. The team selection is wrong, the players are playing in the wrong position, why isn't Darren Budd or Matt Crabb playing and the suchlike.
Then after half an hour there are the calls to Gary Wilson to "sort it out", "bring on the substitutes"!
During the game with Altrincham a guy near me said Borough were not playing football and that you could see better football at the Saffrons. The people around us all told this bloke where to go. I have seen a match at the Saffrons this season and I can assure you the football we are playing certainly reflects the three leagues difference between the two clubs. I bet this chap hasn't been to the Saffrons for about 20 years.
I suppose all clubs have these doomongers who are only happy to complain and find fault with everything. As I posted in another thread I think we have done well so far. I know there is a long way to go and we are going to suffer a few defeats before the season ends. However, I believe the players are playing some of the best football we have ever seen at Priory Lane, they are working for each other and battling for every ball.
I am not sure if I saw the same game as a lot of other posters yesterday - I thought Alan Tait had an excellent game, controlling the ball well and creating so many moves when surrounded by Histon defenders. He was less effective in the second half when we were on the back foot and the ball remained in our half for the majority of the time, thus reducing the service to the front two.
We will never change these people (most of whom get into the crowd on reduced admission prices). We are all entitled to our own opinion but it would be good for a word of credit to be given when it is due rather than the continual drivel to which we are currently being subjected.
That's it - my rant is over.

Superb post Taffy. The crowd at boro has always frustrated me. Far too many simply cannot grasp how far we have come, what we have achieved and how difficult it is to pick up points at this level. I've posted on what Tait brings to the side elsewhere so won't bore you again. Our crowd does seem to consist of rather a lot of Kev n Perrys or Victor Meldrews with not a lot in the middle!

Over the last couple of home matches Tait has played outstanding I think. He’s controlled the ball exceeding well of his chest, looked to link well with Nathan or lay it out wide. There does not seem to be that shugging of the shoulders or moaning that we’ve seen before. He deserves a goal but as other people have said, he can”t be both linking the play and poaching in the box. Interesting to see when Atkins is back if Tait retains his place, as we would lack serious pace if both of them play. As for Iggy, I admit I was one of those wishing he had been bought on earlier on Saturday, when we seem to losing a bit of pace up front in the second half. Unfortunately when he came on, he already looked tired! Had he overdone the warming up? I was expecting a bit more from a Championship based player.

tait is looking good but still doesnt look like a goal scoring threat and the only thing missing from the borough side is goals from strikers at the moment! so we need to get them firing quickly

Isn't Tait A STRIKER!!!!!!! In where he stands on the park only. Not fast enough or physical enough to lead the line. Said it before he could be very useful just behind the two strikers as he can hold up the ball well and lay it off.
