AFC WIMBLEDON’S pursuit of Lewes striker Jean-Michel Sigere looks set to end in failure. The former France U21 international is close to agreeing a switch to Blue Square Premier side Eastbourne, after receiving an “unbelieveable offer”, according to a source. And it looks like the lure of football in a higher division - and an impressive salary - will be enough to tempt Sigere to Lewes’s Sussex rivals. www.southlondonpress.co.uk/tn/Sport.cfm?id=7566

;)Hi Vern you got anything to add as you seem to be in the know Nope, like I said, my friend had a smug look on his face and said that within a shortish period we'd all hear some exciting news. He added that the new player had League experience. If this news is factual than he might, possibly, be the first of 4 or 5 new signings??

Wouldn't add too much to the squad IMO. He's 31 now and has played for eight clubs so far. Didn't score many goals for Lewes last season.
Yes he provides league experience from his early years, but I recall watching him play for Margate in 2002/03 when they were in the top level conference, playing quality ex-league teams then like Yeovil, Doncaster and Chester. Margate finished mid-table but Sigere only scored 5 goals in around 20 league games. Kept drifting in/out of matches, making little team contribution. Subsequently signed by Hornchurch after just 18th months at Margate.

I reckon it would be a waste of hard earnt money. We have enough strikers, they just need to loose some weight and gain speed. With hard work the ones we have would be great, just pay them a decent wage and give them encouragement. Even Rambo could be more than half decent by the time the season starts. The existing team won the promotion, so lets see what they can do! After all we don't expect promotion again next year! therooks.proboards55.com/index.cgi?board=lewes&action=display&thread=1647

Nathan and Atkin are born goalscorers but as for rambo and tait maybe not they offer a physical presence upfront but I dont think they can cut it at this standard and we will need the strikers banging in the goals left right and center if we are going to stay up but would the management get rid of rambo I doubt it as he is a much loved figure! we need another striker and one of these two to be shown the exit door! preferbly rambo I think as we really need another striker with pace is what were lacking rather than 3 strikers at the moment who just win things in the air and hope for someone to latch onto the knock downs, rambo has been invaluable for this club but I feel his time has come ,he would be out of his depth!! and it will sound harsh after a fantastic season but the players I feel will need to leave because we will require more quality in their positions are- Rambo or Tait, Wilde , Matt Smart, maybe Matt Crabb( dissapointing season), Pat Harding

Yep strange signing if it is true. Lots of arguements about who is our best , second best striker etc but i thought we had enough to choose from. Maybe somebody has already left??

Wormull would be a valuable signing imo. But not this French bloke.
We have a great forward line as it is. Atkin is proving to be a top striker, Nathan looks like he could handle the BSP, and with relish, Tait is more than capable of being a 20-goals a season man in the BSP (if he can stay fit and focused) and Rambo is a very useful back-up to them, as well as being our main penalty and dead-ball man.
For my two pennorth, I think we need a quality stand-in keeper (but will one come unless they have a real chance of ousting Hooky and getting regular first-team football?); we need a good replacement left-back, we could do with a fast defender who can play as a sweeper when needed, someone who can bring something new to the right-hand side of the midfield, especially going forward would be a nice bonus, and we need a more skillful midfielder who can give us a bit more creative play there.
OK, that's a wish list, and it is possible to get one player who could cover two or three of the roles, and any player who has BSP (or better) experience and is a better player than who we have would, of course, be a major asset, regardless of position. And we don't yet know who is going to be lost from last season's squad, so priorities may well change.
But I can't believe that Boro have made an unbeliveable offer, at least not in money terms. Maybe the unbelievable offer is that we have sent round half-a-dozen skinheads with pit bulls in tow, to tell him he has to sign or they'll break his legs? It's cheaper and it might just work!

Collected my copy of Play Off Final this afternoon....I'll repeat what I heard up there..... It appears that Hooky has signed, as he was out of contract. There apparently has been a number of players coming and going up at the Club, some known some not. GnN have been busy up at the Club too. Still not sure who's staying and who's going, but now that the Clubs Dinner Evening has gone there is due to be alot of activity at Priory Lane. The pitch is expected to start to begin greening up over the next week or so. Apparently it will take approx 60 days for there to be robust carpet of grass on the pitch. The Youth pitch, marked out and turf removed, behind the Main Stand, looks like it has taken over the entire field on that side.

Quite agree brains, G&N are working hard at it and speculation on this site will not be to our advantage.

On Argus website now that Wormull & Siggy look like they will join. Only because the Argus reads the Lewes and Boro forums for stories

Wormall would be a very good signing, as for Siggy, the jury is out on him........feel he may not be 'cheap' and the money could be better invested elsewhere......
