Terrible idea.... Not allowed in the National League yet! Saddles the club with 6 years of debt at the same time as low playing budget and ever decreasing crowds! Facilities will be abused by any tom, richard or 'arry being allowed to wreck the place week in week out!
Plus how does the surface suit our style of play when all we do launch the ball into outer space and hope the shortest man on the pitch can jump.

Obviously it will bring more income to the club which is great and I can see a lot of benefits to the clubhouse as well, but I am also sad to see a really good natural pitch ripped up, which has played well ever since the drainage was done a few years ago, and I have always liked the natural changes in conditions over a season with the best team to overcome these, winning the league and you can see some really entertaining games on a wet pitch. At the moment I am not sure whether I am in favour or not, ideally I would have liked to see the 3G laid behind the main stand instead of the stadium itself, as they have at Borehamwood, but I assume this would be far too costly. Another thought, with our exposed site at the Lane, with the windy conditions we experience at least a grass surface can hold the ball up a bit and I think if we had had a 3G on Monday it would have compounded to the problem for the players and would have made it impossible to play football at all, and certainly it would not have been good for the spectators then.

3G at the lane? Lucky if I get a signal on my vertu phone let alone 3G shocking coverage! Well done guys then on the installation of a phone mast to benefit the long suffering fans

Really can,t understand why we are going to rip up one of the best grass pitches in this league that has had only one game cancelled in around 3 seasons due to the weather and replace it with plastic. Not saying that the plastic pitch won,t be a good one but really we should be getting it laid outside the main stadium on the other two pitches which have also had the drainage pipes fitted and just fence it off.

I think financially we'll probably benefit from this move. As the article mentions, the club already has an arrangement with Soccersixes which should offset the cost to some extent. There is no way the club would have decided on this move if it didn't add up - it sounds like they've done the ground work and crunched the numbers. It's also not really a plunge into the unknown as other clubs in our league have prospered playing on the surface. It'll also, hopefully, bring greater exposure to the club as an increased number of people use the facilities.
However, whether we'll benefit from this in a footballing-sense awaits to be seen. The traditionalists won't like the move but I'm intrigued to see if all this talk produces results. Interesting times.

Seems good old Ken was right, boro looking after their fans now with a 3G mast in preparing them for a rise into the football league and free wifi that the league grounds will now be offering. www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35942609Haha, amazing.. "news, social media content, highlights and betting" - why bother watching the football unfold in front of you? First-hand experiences are so overrated.
