Not quite the start we wanted. 2-0 down after 20 minutes, both goals coming from ex-Boro frontman Jamie Taylor.

3-0 down after 30 minutes.. we scored 5 on saturday, it looks likely we're going to have to replicate that again it seems.

Going to need to come out of the blocks fast in the second half if we're to claw this one back. Still not out of reach, but a tough ask.

Absolutely dreadful. Should of started the same team who hammered Basingstoke on Saturday. Came out with the completely wrong formation today, no idea why it took TW so long to realise it wasnt working? Miguel should of started Pinney shouldn't of. Im not Pinney bashing either, but he really was bad today. He wasn't however the only one who played badly as the whole defence was rubbish.
Only people who played well were Gav, Haysman, Miguel when he came on and of course Carey. TW you got it badly wrong im afraid.

The "Jamie Taylor " show I am afraid , ,had all the time in the world down the righthand side ,never got to grips with him ,not only did he score twice (and had another surperbly saved by Carey) bu the had two assists as well ,Margate may have only drawn two games so far but they looked better techinally than us ,always had space and knew where their men were ,beaten by a much better team .Some doubt about the first goal as should have been a goal kick rather than a corner but without Carey could have been 7 !

So we turn up at a surprisingly calm and windless Priory Lane eagerly looking forward to the game between the Sports, 5-1 conquerors of Basingstoke against a Margate side who have yet to register a win this season. All set for a home win but unfortunately the Borough team failed to turn up whilst the whirlwind of an excellent Margate performance ran rings around a very static and leaden-footed Sports defence who appeared to be bewildered that Jamie Taylor would run at them and attempt to reclaim his starting position for his latest team. This is the same Jamie Taylor who scored 2 goals against us for Sutton before joining the Sports on loan a season or two back. Sure enough Jamie and the other old Borough boy, Kane Wills buried us within the first half an hour and it was game over.
To say we were lucky that the final score was 4-1 probably does Lewis Carey an injustice and if our sponsors had decided there should be a Borough man of the match it would undoubtedly have been that man who kept the score from becoming an embarrassment. There were a couple of Sports players who didn't stop trying but unfortunately most appeared unable to raise their game and looked to be exhausted after the euphoria of Saturday. Perhaps the celebrations wore them out!
Is there any glimmer of hope from tonight's performance? Only if our FA Cup opponents , AFC Sudbury were watching us tonight and have reached the conclusion that they just need to turn up to beat us in a couple of weeks time. Hopefully it will be last Saturday's Borough side who will be facing them and not tonight's. I am sure I am not the only supporter who welcomes the FA cup match with more than a little apprehension?
High flying Oxford City on Saturday, who won again tonight and look likely to be challenging Ebbsfleet for the top spot come the end of the season. This will be our first game against one of the top teams but I wouldn't bet against us coming away with something on Saturday. Saying that I wouldn't actually bet on any Sports game as the only certain thing is that we won't have a clue which Borough side will be turning up.
We need to forget tonight, wish Margate well for approaching the game in such a positive fashion despite their lowly position and be grateful that we don't face our old mate Jamie Taylor every week!

It was certainly a night to forget, and I cannot remember such a one-sided opening 45 minutes where we were completely outclassed all over the pitch, and IMO there were 3 of our players who never got into the game at all which obviously affected the rest. In saying that it makes you wonder how Margate, with their budget and the quality players they have at their disposal had such a poor start to the campaign. I think this proves what a tough league this is and there will never be any easy games whatever position the opposition is in.
