Having had the chance to contemplate on Saturday's match it would be easy to follow striker's lead and be full of doom and gloom.
However, at half time we had watched an enthralling first half with good football played by both sides and either side could have gone in ahead had they taken their chances.
Interestingly Havant took the field early for the second half and appeared to steal a march on the Sports taking their chances and suddenly we were chasing a 2-0 deficit. With two substitutions forced on the Borough management and the knowledge that Adam Watts' first game back from injury might influence the third substitution changed the approach of the Sports.
To score a goal to bring us back into contention and then to concede a third goal which was an absolute cracker was heartbreaking.
I think we are entitled to be disappointed that after such an excellent start to the season we have again dropped out of contention and are looking at a likely mid- table finish. This is made more galling by the fact that the Conference South has been the most open it has been for a number of years with any team able to beat another and so a good run by a team would propel them into contention.
But so far it has not just been a season of negatives. I think that generally the football played by the Sports this year has mostly been better than last year and we have seen some superb goals, admittedly a few more wouldn't have gone amiss.
It would be nice for us to put a little run together over the next couple of months to keep the supporters coming to the Lane and to keep some excitement going.
Saturday at Farnborough would be a good time to start.
