Darren Budd has left Bognor after a disagreement with J Pearce. The Argus believe that he may be a target for Boro, to fill that midfield berth temporarily filled by J Day. There maybe something in it, as GnN have stated that they need to strengthen this area and I guess, enable Smart and Armo to rest. J Day presumably is a stop gap and, I'd assume that the Bognor wages are on the same level as ours, and he lives in Brighton. However, I can't remember how good he is, but he is probably adept on the ball as are the rest of the Bognor players, to give respect where it is due. It would be a boost to have someone, proven, who can play / pass the ball on the ground.

I must admit when I read that he had left Boggy it crossed my mind. Food for thought with regards to Jamie, if he was only on a months loan, why clear him to play in the FA cup, only to return to Grays cup-tied? Could he be on a months loan with a view to a permanent deal?

I still think that Gary is doing well getting experienced players from the higher leagues. It has taken a while for the old Eastbourne players to accept it, but we seem to have a decent team now. We just have to get the injured players back. I for one wait in earnest for their return. What did you all think of our front line last week? Scot definately had a bad hair day!

Rambo's armoury is adequate: when holding the ball up; when knocking the ball on, beating most to it; and switching the ball far and wide to the wing. Rambo cannot make short passes; he cannot run and is expensive with the number of shots he requires to hit the back of the net. I think he'd be better coming on as a sub, as opposed to seeing the whole match through and fading. I'm looking forward to Allan Tait returning, with the form of the end of last season. Maybe, seeing Andy Atkin as a conventional centre forward, so he can use his best attribute which is his head. I'd also like to see Dan Leach get more time on the pitch to raise his confidence, but also to see him show more aggression and hunger to win the ball - like Ben Watson when playing at Bognor. Dan is the same stature as Ben, but Ben was a lot more mobile up front and asserted himself and...scored a hatful of goals. 6 goals scored by the top two a piece is not the whole story, judging by the method we've employed and played. We do look like a side that is somewhat fortunate to date. Apart from a minority of the games played I think the score lines have flattered us...a load of wins and a few draws are FANTASTIC! but, I feel if we don't ratchet up the quality of our 90 minutes, we will inevitably be undone and finish a top half side as opposed to Champions or Play Off contenders. "Yeah! Big 'em up! OK!" but, it's been pretty ugly and we can't afford to get complacent. [be]The song sung by the Hayes and Yeading supporters is still ringing in my head: " top of the league, your having a laugh!!"[/be]

www.theargus.co.uk/sport/It looks as if GnN are interested, given that Budd has impressed them in the past. So, Jamie Day may not be here after the months loan. It will be fascinating to see whether the diminutive midfielder offers our forwards another useful supply line. As we all know if it is going to happen (positive footy) in a game it is because of the Midfield "engine"!!
