Ramsey x2 and Leach were the goalscorers.
A perfect result and workout for Boro. Although if I was a Ebbsfleet fan I would be worried at how in effective my team was in front of goal. Can’t remember the Boro goalies name, but he gave an excellent performance, including an amazing save in the second half. Hooky beware! The defence of Austin, Baker, Pullen and Lovett, (late replacement for Jenkins) were as strong as ever. The midfield worked hard and tried to play the ball on the floor whenever possible. Leach was quick up front and took his goal well and Rambo scored two – one a charge down on the keepers clearance and the other a good header. Although he spent most of the game looking slow and arguing with the ref – no change from last season. With Tait, Atkin and Jenkins to come in, the team looks well balanced, and the bench at the moment also strong. The defender who came on for Baker in the second half (sorry didn’t catch his name) looked uncompromising, and Nathan Crabb showed promise. Roll on the start of the season!

Lee is on holiday, so here is a brief report ...
Eastbourne Borough 3 Ebbsfleet United 0 Ramsay 26,30 Leach 70
Borough completed an unbeaten pre-season programme with a deserved if slightly flattering victory over Conference National site Ebbsfleet.
With Lee Hook suspended for the opening game of the season, Garry Wilson started with David Hogan in goal, and the non-contract Dagenham & Redbridge keeper did not disappoint with a string of fine saves, including an early stop from Raphael Nade.
The home side was forced on to the back foot for most of the opening 20 minutes of the game but were fortunate that the Ebbsfleet finishing was not as positive as some of their approach play, with Stacy Long and Luke Moore missing good opportunities. Whilst Hogan impressed for Borough his opposite number Sam Mott was at fault for Sports' opener on 26 minutes as his attempted clearance cannoned off Scott Ramsay, leaving the Borough striker with the easiest of finishes. Ramsay was again on target four minutes later: glancing a header past Mott from Jay Lovett's cross.
The second half saw Ebbsfleet enjoying much the better of the possession but unable to get on to the scoresheet. Moore hit the woodwork on 58 minutes, with Mark De Bolla firing wide of far post from the rebound. It was then the turn of Hogan once again to deny Paul McCarthy with an acrobatic save.
Borough extended their lead on 70 minutes, albeit rather against the run of play when Nathan Crabb completed a good run with a precision through-ball into the path of Danny Leach who finished clinically.
Despite playing against full-time opposition in sweltering conditions, Borough did not appear to tire noticeably but instead defended well as Ebbsfleet pressed for a consolation. Hogan saved from Liam Coleman before the ball was scrambled away, and then thwarted Chukki Eribenne with his legs late on to maintain a clean sheet.
Eastbourne Borough 1. David Hogan 2. Darren Baker (Andy Ballard) 3. Neil Jenkins (Pat Harding) (Ethan Strevett) 4. Scott Chamberlain 5. Ben Austin 6. Marc Pullan 7. Jay Lovett 8. Paul Armstrong (Matt Smart) 9. Scott Ramsay (Nathan Crabb) 10. Danny Leach 11. Matt Crabb (Adam Wilde) Unused sub: Lee Hook

An excellent result which did flatter us somewhat as Ebbsfleet must have had about 7 or 8 good chances to score including the one that hit the post in the second half.
I agree that it was good to see a confident performance from David Hogan in goal who was quite vocal in controlling his area.
I think the criticism of Rambo a little harsh as he did cover a lot of ground and his first goal was due to him not giving up on a ball which the goalie should have controlled. However as Jack stated he did again moan too much to the referee, often complaining about offside decisions which had been correctly given.
One or two of our players did seem to struggle with fitness and may well start on the bench but with good youngsters on the sidelines competition for places will be fierce.
Overall a good solid performance with encouraging signs of players with pace which will give us a bit more to offer up front this season.

Good all round performance by the boys, it was pleasing to see Scott back to his predatory best, especially chasing the first goal down. As for the goal-keeper the guy was top-draw producing at least five quality saves and at crucial moments.
As for Rambo, people seem to forget that he may not have been 100% fit and it was hot. The moaning at the referee can and will be a problem, but I think it stems from the frustration of the moment and being convinced of being in the right. What Scott doesn't want is a reputation of being a whinger. Back to the plusses though, the header for the second goal was the perfect strike, lets hope he receives more of the same sort of service throughout the season.
My only doubt is Scott Chamberlain I cannot see what additional things he can offer the team. Whilst I accept it was his first game with new players, I would question what benefits he will provide. Surely our central midfield will be run by Armstrong and Smarty, once the suspension is out of the way.

Just come back in and spotted Cliff's comment regarding Scott Chamberlain.
I thought he had an excellent game and his overall level of fitness, due to full-time training ,was on a different level to anyone else in the side.
I presume he has been recruited on loan to cover for the suspensions which are affecting team selection in the first couple of games.
Overall he is a class player and I think he will make a difference in the early games.
