It's ironic but the first half team was comprised of a number of trialists, as well as the giant presence of Marc Pullan - nil nil at half time. The second half appeared to have a majority of first team players that I recognised, and now Lee Hook in goal. It took a looping kick over Hook, who'd advanced, enabling their No 9 the first goal. Lee's positioning gave the striker the opportunity, but Lee had already made some terrific shot stopping saves, which more than made up for the faux pas. It took the Sports to be a goal down before they upped their work rate and eventually capitalise on all the possession that they had enjoyed in the Folkestone half of the pitch. Ramsay goal. The post and cross bar was hit more than once. Nathan Crabb was excellent and again won a Freekick, as he did at St Francis Rangers, just outside their 18 yrd box when the Defender clipped his heels. I disagree with Neil Jenkins taking the Freekick though, as he'd demonstrated in the warm up, he is prone to kicking the ball high and wide even when close in on goal. Definitely Armo as Free Kick taker IMO. The guy from Oxford looked more assured at the back in this game, taking his time to pass the ball out of Defence and making some confident runs past the half way mark. The little red headed No12? was good, in so far that he was fast, but when chesting the ball down from a high pass he couldn't control it with his first touch, on more than one occasion. The big No 17 from Pease Pottage reminded me of a combination of Victor Dolista and vaguely like Ashley Sestanovich (spelling?); in so far that he had the physical presence of AS and Victor but was, obviously, a very raw example of these two. His positional play was a tad strange as in the second half he was prone to wandering back into our half following the play...focus a bit lacking? But, he did hold the ball up well and helped set up the attack a number of occasions, but we did get offside too many times. Baxter - who came from Chelsea via Torquay, looked good in this match, until he lingered on the ball and got chopped down from behind, and no free kick!! then had to go off. Best trialist = N Crabb No Tait, Austin, Smart, Lovett, Baker, Wilde, Leach The Pease Pottage keeper, looked very good in the first half when they had broken through our defence with only the keeper to get round, whilst he ran out to meet the striker, making himself as big an obstacle as possible and reduced the goal opening available to shoot into, whereby the Folkestone player panicked and fluffed it!!
