Is the Premier League of the SCFL a competitive / strong League? The question is: will it prepare the Reserves for the step up to the First team, should the opportunity arise, through injuries to First team players and merit from strong individual performances in the Reserves?? As we have one of the smaller squads in the League it is important that the Reserves are as strong as possible to support the First team. TSTBO

I think it is necessary to be realistic here in that the teams the reserves will be facing are County League reserve teams. Therefore there will still be a large gap in quality between the first and reserve teams.
However, unlike the teams who are in the north of the county who can play in leagues which include Ryman reserve sides etc where little travelling is involved, we really have the choice of either playing in this league or not having a reserve team at all. As we saw last year if our young players don't get a game they will go elsewhere. At least with a reserve team they will be getting a couple of regular games (assuming most will also be playing for the under 18's).
Also it well give the players recovering from injuries or who Gary and Nick need to look at a chance to have a game or gain some match poractice.
