yes we where awful tonight and a tad lucky. truro where much the better team. 462 attendance just about sums up our performances of late. yes we won away to bromley but that is hardly something to write home about after beating them 5-0 at the lane. we cannot even pass the ball to each other at times and we play like ameteurs more often than not. we have no idea when it comes to defending either. i ask myself were has it all gone wrong? every year i look at our players and believe they are a improvement on the previous but year on year we the paying public are left disapointed and i don,t know the answer.

Can't believe what a contrast from the 1st half to the 2nd. More than comfortably bossing the game for 45 minutes, only to forget what to do until the 80th. Too many wayward passes left us bereft all too often.
However the most comical comment heard tonight was this. One supporter said " Hakf those players shouldn't be in that team " I mentioned " Odd as it's the same team that beat Bromley" His retort? " Well its not the same team that beat Torquay 3 years ago" No $hit Sherlock!!! Priceless observation!

yobo got it right, even the first half was *rap jim, how many missed chances? one word pathetic. Attendance will struggle to reach 400 for WSM. We made them look good, they looked like scoring mutch more than we did, Our defence is *iss poor and nobody, just nobody can score. Top scorer with 7 WELL! say no more!!!

Doom, gloom, doom, gloom blah blah blah
Oh yes, the football match. Shame about that awful period of lack of concentration at the start of the second half as the foundations for a good win had been laid in a good first half performance.
Truro are no great shakes as a team but they are very well drilled, chase lost causes all day long and just typify the rugged middle bit of the Conference South league. Are we a better team than them? I think we're round and about at their level and remain perplexed why some believe we should be brushing teams like these aside with ease.
I liked the line-up Garry picked tonight, it was quite bold and a good attempt to get the better technical players in the squad passing the ball from midfield with Rook as the spearhead. Against the wind it seemed to being working OK as Rook buried an excellent cross.
The poor start to the second half tore up that script and from then it was always going to be about gaining a point than losing three, and the team showed very good battling character to get it back level. A fair result from two midtable teams.
As for the doom and gloom. Alas supporters on here are playing their role in talking the club down. The atmosphere at the ground tonight was poor. Even in the first half while we were leading, the moaning was incessant. For me this is what creates a poor experience at Boro games, not watching the preditably hit and miss attempts at winning games by Garry's midtable squad.
I think what we are alas seeing here is the Boro model of building a football club breaking down. Everyone says they believe clubs should be realistic about clubs playing the football their finances can afford. Everyone says they believe that the firing mentality afflicting all levels of British football is wrong. For years, the Boro stood out against those two malign things - but it seems the fans will only give their backing if the momentum is upwards rather than static and consolidating as it is currently.
This is a great shame because Garry and the squad deserve better support than this during what will inevitably be a long transitional season from the heights of the Conference. They aren't getting it and the consequences of that will probably be player exits and a increasingly hard to manage cycle of decline.

whats cheeses me off is our lack of ability to do even the basics like passing the ball to one another. for there penalty i watched clark masters push the truro striker who was standing in front of him and get booked for it then from the corner do the exact same thing when the ref is watching and flatten crabby in the process and give away a penalty as all this is being seen by the ref. it just seems crazy to me.

Very disappointed about last night, we played well for first 30 mins, then totally lost the plot. Masters as someone else said was lucky to be on the pitch as all he did was push in the back luckily we had a *rap lino on North side. We did not start playing till the last 15 mins. If we cannot play for a whole game bring in fresh legs. Why do we have the likes of Camara & Strevett warming the bench. The lad from Portsmouth should be signed as he was useful when played. Ive said before and ill say again it all seems to have gone wrong since we let Simon Colbran go and love or hate it since the drum is not used. If we cant play a whole game why waste all that energy before the game surely it does not need all that to warm up
Rant over

London Irish - some familiar criticisms of the fans by you. There is nothing odd about supporters getting disgruntled when a team puts in a bad performance, as you'll know from your Brighton-watching days. When that happens on a regular basis, and when tactics keep failing, and the fighting spirit seems to be draining, and when the club misses an obvious opportunity for rebuilding, fans get even less "gruntled".
If you seriously expect supporters to clap politely and organise three cheers for the management, and keep coming back week after week to watch what's currently being served up, you're not as in tune with the sport as you may think. Football is about the fans, and if the players or coaches don't like what they're saying, I'm afraid that's tough luck.
The stuff about the business model is right up to a point, but I suspect a fresh manager with the same budget could be achieving better results and pulling in bigger crowds. But hey! What do I know? I'm just a fan, and should keep my mouth shut, as I'm clearly part of the reason why we're in this position.

It was a disappointing display for periods of the game, and some criticism can be expected, but I would expect the bright moments to be mentioned as well on the forum, as our first goal was Quality with Rooks header from a beautiful Hart cross. I know we did not play well for 20 mins at the start of the second half but from then to the end it was not too bad. Also nobody has mentioned about the 2 outstanding saves by the Truro keeper in the second half. As far as the atmosphere it was awful with hardly any positive encouragement from the home supporters at all. I,m sorry to say that when you see the support the home sides get when we play away is far better than at Priory Lane and its not that they are playing at times any better, so come on and be more positive as getting on the players backs helps no one. Incidentally the drums are at the club if anyone wants to use them to hopefully improve things.

I'm just a fan, and should keep my mouth shut, as I'm clearly part of the reason why we're in this position. To be honest Monkeyman I thought I was meeting you halfway with what I said. I don't think we have too much disagreement about what is happening at the Boro, maybe a little on why it is happening. I agree with the point you made about Brighton, and you can toss in clubs like Crawley and Lewes as well, all of these fan groups have at one recent time lost faith in their clubs and managers. It's an everywhere trend that Boro are now part of, just some of us expected a little more restraint and patience here - given the very sensible and organic growth path the club have followed in recent years might have "schooled" fans to have a little more perspective. But apparantly not, fine. Brighton and Crawley fans have reconnected with their clubs thanks to large investment by rich owners, that is not an option here. Lewes is still a work in progress. A fresh manager? I'm not dogmatic on this, just sceptical of the "some change, any change" approach will work. When Nicky Forster was spending recent months playing in the county league at Lingfield, I wouldn't have been against the committee approaching him. But realistically he was waiting for one of the bigger fish of this league and found it, I don't think he would have touched us given our budget constraints. So realistically what calibre of man can we attract better than Garry. Not against an ongoing discussion on possibilities, just against plucking any name from the air as a Hail Mary and sacrificing G&N's knowledge of this league. As for you being the problem. If you were one of those constantly moaning about the team and polluting the atmosphere while we in the lead yesterday, yes you are. If like me you were just mouthing the occasional frustration at a poor Masters kick or misplaced pass, then no. I think there is a big difference between those two things, one is a pre-drunk off mindset that should really be doing something else (watching Whitehawk perhaps?), the other is a fan passionately involved in the game. I suspect you are the latter but it's the first lot that really puts me off attending games like last night's.

You're correct - I wasn't at the game and never shout anything but encouragement at players, I've never booed my own team, I'll clap the manager as he heads towards the dug-out and cheer the names of players I'm less impressed with along with the names of those I think are better.
But equally, this is a rough, tough sport and people pay good money to watch it. I don't think anyone can tell supporters how to react to certain players/performances/situations. Obviously a line is crossed if there's racial abuse or anything equally unpleasant, but if a few old boys want to describe a player as "bluddy rubbish", or demand a change of tactics/personnel, that's something that has ALWAYS happened at games from parks level right up to internationals. I'm always wary of calls for such behaviour to be deemed unacceptable because the gentrification of this sport has probably gone far enough.
The brutal truth is that fans of any club will be loud and supportive when they're happy, and quiet or moany when they're not. A lot of Boro fans are unhappy right now, for reasons we can debate. At least they're still turning up at games and paying for the privilege. Hundreds more are staying away.

I thought Truro were a useful extremely well balanced side and kudos to them for spotting the weakness in our central midfield by simply outmanning us at every opportunity. After 10 or so minutes they were walking the ball forward through the centre. Whatever you say about how bad we played or passed (true) gary did spot the the problem and dealt with it by removing matt smart who was not at the races. When Johnson came on we started to win valuable possesion and on chances alone should have won the game by a decent margin. I would have kept ross t on as he was unsettling the right back, brinko huffed but wasted too much possesion as did darren baker with some awful sky bound passing, rook had a very good game and I felt that harty should have been further forward. good stikers hunt in pairs not 40 yards from each other. I think harty was dropping deep through frustration at the poor passing out of defence, but what do I know, after all he is an experienced pro. Masters is a better all round keeper than banks by a long shot, a few bad clearances but he dooes use the ball quicker and that is important for our style of play. Ben austin looked quite assured on the ball and we have missed that but he is too similar in style to ollie rowe, hurry back mr elphick and even mr langston. Finally what a gem sam cole is, he gives everything and although not a natural defender always puts in a decent shift. we must hang on to him! so not all doom and gloom although if we lost my post would probably be a little more engaging for certain readers. one thing I must say though is, we need to get shot of a couple of players who are past it and give away too much possession, For about 5 minutes we played some excellent passing football and scored the first goal during that period. we will never be a side that dominates games until all the players are singing of the same sheet. Its hard to acccept but it has to be done .

unfortunately I didn't see the game so I can't comment on the play. A crowd of 462 though is a nightmare and I'm struggling to remember when Borough last had a home gate of 400 odd for a league game, does anyone know? This clearly needs addressing quickly, perhaps the Club will have an incentive scheme in place over the Christmas period?

i think the incentive to bring in the crowds would be to play football as the dross being served of late leaves a bit to be desired.

462 is terrible. That's dropped about 1,000 in 2 years. Is only a little more than Enfield Town are getting at an athletics stadium in Ryman Division 1 North - 2 leagues below EBFC

Alao has to be taken into account that Truro may not have brought many and with champions league football on too many would have decided not to venture out into what was a bloomin cold evening.
