For me Lewes probably had the edge for the first 35 minutes. However, they couldn't use the ball in the final third of the pitch so caused Rushden no problems.
I don't know what Ollie Rowland looked like with that wierd hairstyle - obviously wanted to stand out.
As we know this league is tough and I really can't see them getting away from the bottom with the team they have. However, had they had Cullip playing they might not have been so generous in the second half gifting goals left, right and centre.
After the success of the past 5 seasons you can see why the supporters at the Dripping Pan are so disgruntled. It must be so frustrating and unlike a lot of you guys, I do sympathise with them.
We know we have a lot of tough games in front of us but at least the balance of our team seems right, which Lewes I don't think can claim.
Another tough one on Saturday against a Histon team who are in form at the moment. However I think we can keep up our good record against them and hopefully get back into the top half of the table.

To be fair Lewes did well in the first half and for a period at 1-0 they dominated and had a 79% possesion over a 5 minute period, to Rushdens 21%. Rushden just showed the quality, and why they probably have the best strikers in the division (bar siggy of course ). Its obvious that Ollie Rowland is no good at this level, and Joe Keehan is only playing cause hes the managers son.

Last night's result was no surprise to me. I expected Lewes to take a hammering and they did.
Whilst there is a great rivalry between us I have to admit that I don't take any pleasure from seeing the situation Lewes are in. It's really not good for football at all... and it's not good for their fans.
You have to say that the crazy spending of the last few seasons has finally caught up with Lewes, it was always going to. That is reflected this year by a team made up of players who are, to put it nicely, well out of their depth at this level and I suspect they will be lucky to finish anywhere but the bottom of the table.
I for one hope that Lewes can turn it around for both the benefit of football in Sussex and us. After all, if they disappear to a lower level then our rivalry won't be so exciting.

I agree with robmarks on this 100%.I was thinking of starting a thread on the situation they are in and asking the question, would you support the fans if for example they organized a protest march. I remember the problems that Brighton had and did what I could simply as a supporter of "local football"So leaving the rivalry aside would you support the fans of Lewes in any action.? Remember they feel powerless in this situation, hence the anger expressed on there forum.

Was at the game and i have to say i thought lewes were aweful. Neither team were very good in the first half. In the second half rushden seemed able to score at will. Lewes had nothing up front or going forward and their defending was county league. Its the worst ive ever seen lewes play, including or 7-2 last term. As much as we might have a small grin at them doing badly i thought it was sad to see the club in disarray. Most of their fans were chanting Keehan out. I dont know exactly whats gone wrong but it needs sorting fast. Its great to have 3 sussex teams in this league and i hope it stays like that. You have to feel for their fans. Whats left of them anyway. Less than 700 is not enough for the team or the club. But on last nights evidence, you cant blame people.

It would have been different if Lewes had gone into the conf with last year's squad and then struggled - then we might have taken more pleasure from their poor run. But what's happening at the Pan is actually very sad and as Sussex people, and football supporters, we should have sympathy with them. To make it worse, Keehan is so embedded in the club structure that there's virtually no chance of him being removed - and even if he were, the board has no money to spend to improve the squad.
I'd like Lewes to stay up, to keep the friendly rivalry going, and watching them being destroyed from within gives me no pleasure at all.
