Oh well at least we put away our chances which we didn't do against rushden. Hopefully it wont be a blow to the players and they keep their heads up

Amazing game and dot know where to start 2 down after 8 minutes then 2 all after 20 and then we hit the post and Tait missed a glorious chance we were on top and then a silly unfortunate own goal. We get back to 3-3 2nd half and then Pullen had to go off and we were never settled after that and they got 3 late goals . Pullen didnt look fit today and looked as though he was carrying an injury. If there is any highlights anywhere you have to see Armo's third goal. Just looked at the Sky sports stats and we had 56% of the play. We scored 3 from 4 on target and they scored 6 from 6 plus we hit the post and they hit the bar. Could have been 8-8

Maz sums it all up nicely.... My first thoughts were that after 8 minutes we were in for a barrage and and thrashing!!! We didnt let our heads drop and clawed a goal back, and then kept the pressure on to equalise. When Oxford got the 3rd from a very bizarre own goal, it was against the run of play. Half time arrived and not one Boro fan was down or despondant. 2nd half saw us take up the challenge again and our 3rd goal was as sweet as they come. A wonderfully placed chip from Jenks into the path of a running Armo who stayed calm and slotted in. When Pullers went of and was replaced by Jay, the back looked vunerable ( no fault of Jay by the way) Was it a case of 3 games in 8 days showing the fitness levels of part v full timers?? To be honest, 2 of Oxfords goals came from goal poaching when Hooky pulled of great saves only to see the loose ball buried. Allan Tait gave a great show today too... a case of rising to a level he is used to Andy Atkin was as Oxford expected, a pain and a handful. The record books will show this as a 6-3 home win to Oxford, but the Boro faithful that witnessed the 90 minutes saw a deternined display from a club that is venturing into its highest ever league competition and is showing no sign of being overawed. Not one of our players gave less than 100% today...

Maz and Converted are spot on. We played well throughout passing our way around the 'superior' players at times but IMO the full time sharpness and fitness told at the end .....
Absolutely no embarresment for Boro ..... onwards and upwards.
But what were Oxford like ? They only found 4000 (?) voices when they were safe in front and certainly never backed their team when Boro drew level. Pathetic. If that's 'big club' support I'm proud to support a 'parks side'. Rushden were certainly better at The Lane.
The stewards need to understand what their job is. Some Oxford fans time wasted by keeping the ball in the stand with one individual clearly visible to all in the ground. He was not even spoken to and hence prompted another to do it in the final moments. Why were these people not ejected ?

I spoke at length with the pretty lady steward ( can we get her to Priory Lane?? ) and I gather that 2 idiots were in fact ejected and will be banned.... I think that we are used to low level stewarding at Boro and are begining to witness what the next tier of football is all about... some is great but there will be less savoury moments on the journey!
