What a good start for the season!!! If todays game was the best the Conference Premier can offer what are we worried about? For most of the game we outplayed them apart from the sucker-punch penalty. I think on this game the Diamonds must be more worried than us, especially as they are one of the favourites for promotion. BEST OF LUCK FOR TUESDAY

Incidentally our opponents for Tuesday, Stevenage Borough, conceded 5 a Wrexham today.
I agree with the view that Rushden didn't look like title challengers this afternoon. Still early days of course but on that performance Rushden can forget the play offs as well.
What about the muppet who got himself kicked out of the ground lol ;D

i was ten yards from the penalty incident 'there was no contact',the guy no 15 (tomlin) looked for it,which players do,i can understand the ref giving it, it was one of those, basically he cheated and got away with it.
boro so unlucky not to score, mind you it was bad finishing that let us down, very surprised at the amount of times that rushden were on the back foot, burgess looked a tidy player also his partner in the middle woodhouse, apart from them very plain matty smart looked way off the pace to start with, but seemed to settle in after half an hour or so the two centre halves bakes and pullers looked really comfortable as well, armo probably covered every blade of grass as normal, boro on the whole looked pretty good, some nice football played in the middle third, P.S anyone know if atkin got a knock?- surprised he went off before siggy!

I thought we played really well today, there were an awful lot of positives to come out of this game. Personally I felt we should have won, but the old 'not taking your chances against conference sides' thingy cropped-up yet again. Still, hopefully we will get sharper in the next couple of games. Nice to see the clever corner by Jenks and Worms at the end, shame it came to nothing.

I see that the supporter ejected from the ground was a Salisbury supporter.

No, i believe that he was a Diamonds fan just trying to avoid getting his club in any trouble !!! Thought that the stewards handled the situation very well too! All in all im very proud of the way the boys played today, we were able to hold our own against a stronger side in this division. Could of easily been a draw, but that's football !! Bring on Tuesday at Stevenage !!!!!

Yes. I have to say that I didn't expect to be quite so happy having watched Boro lose!!
Rushden were no better than us and the only thing that seperated the 2 teams was a dive, Hooky nearly got to the penalty as well.
Two things concerned me a little though.
Firstly it did seem that in midfiled we were second best when it came to getting a head on the ball. NO such problems with our defence though!
Secondly, and I know it's early days, I am a little concerned about Matt Crabb and his ability to get past faster/fitter and smarter opposition. Matts game is mostly about trickery and getting past defenders, producing crosses etc. If he can't achieve that then I would have to consider beefing the midfield up, Mo Harkin perhaps. This would also give us a bit more ariel strength which we are obviously going to need at this level. For all his effort Matt ain't going to achieve much in the air!! Early days though so a couple of hatricks from Matt in the next 3 games and I will have to eat humble pie!!

I agree with Neillgb. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the quality of the new pitch, in helping Boro to play more football on the ground. It didn't cut up and it was trimmed short. This can only help us to play a better game at Priory lane. I thought everyone ratcheted up their effort levels. Atkin and Siggy were strong up front, but the Midfield could've been better. I think tht we missed Mo Harkin and a really fit Wormull. Our two sitters shows that we can make opportunities for ourselves, obviously the finishing needs a cutting edge, but I reckon that will come. I think that it is good that we play the "tough" sides this side of Xmas, as they can only get fitter and more organised. The Part timers will probably fade as the long season takes its toll. There is a lot to be positive about.

Hi guys, just got back from the coast. Thanks for being such welcoming hosts we had a great time in your nice little clubhouse both before and after the game. As for the game, I always thought it'd be a tough one. You were at home, newly promoted with a large following on your opening match and at this stage of the season full-time fitness doesn't really come into it. I thought we under performed especially in midfield, we gave the ball away far too easily and created little for the front men to feed on but credit to your players for getting stuck in. At the end your players did seem to lose their quality of passing and that allowed us to sit 5 at the back and absorb the pressure and I thought we did it well. Where the hell did the ref get 7 minutes extra from? I know there was a little time wasting and a few subs but that was OTT. Good luck for the rest of the season and look forward to your visit to our place.

Was not a penalty from what I saw, which was a 15 yards away. Thought the ref initially blew for a free kick for us for the dive but couldn't believe it when he gave the penalty. Seemed to be no contact and the bloke tripped over his own laces but the dramatic dive and scream like he had been shot fooled the referee. Sadly it was a moment of cheating from one of the best players on the park which tainted his excellent display. Thought we deserved a point maybe more if we had our finishing boots on.

P.S anyone know if atkin got a knock?- surprised he went off before siggy! Did you miss the incident when their number 18 flattened Atkin then did'nt realise it was as bad as that, he seemed to have recovered to me but yea obviously would explain it,did'nt see it in the match report tho, also when the sub was made siggy was not sure if he was going off, what i mean is if we have got a wounded soldier, team mates usually pick up on it,but admittedly not all the time

I dont think we were robbed, we lost it due to our own performance. Cant argue that! We played well, but got the subbing wrong. IMO.

If we played the team we had last night we would have won! IMO. In this league you cant keep trying players, you have to play the best you have. IMO.
