I am over the moon at the fact that we are going to be playing the top tier of non-league football next season and cannot wait for the new season to start, but I can't help but think that the pre-season friendlies are rather well-useless! We are going to be up against many full-time ex league clubs and I have seen a couple of the pre-season games for other teams in our league who will be facing next season, for example Cambridge United are preparing for the new season with games against such teams as Everton and Coventry City, Weymouth are going to be playing both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers, Burton are going to host both Notts Forest and Derby, York City are going to be playing Middlesborough, Hartlepool & Barnsley and I could go on and on, even other newly promoted teams such as Barrow are goign to be facing Morecambe of League 2 and Lewes are playing Brighton. So they are all going to be facing at least one league side, if not several and a Premiership side! Meanwhile how are we preparing for the tough challenge ahead? Useless trips to Horsham and Tonbridge? Our biggest game will probably be Havant away, but they are one league below us now!! We need to be playing at least other BSP clubs before the season starts, but preferably a few league sides, but our biggest opponents are going to be a Conf South team!

last nights friendly was no waste of time as it addressed all the problems that were suspected , like I believed sigere to be a waste of money and last nights performance did nothing to change my mind , believe me he will become a disliked figure

Lets just give Sigere time. Yes he lost the ball... a lot and he really should learn how to pass. Having said that I got the impression that he was hungry for success. One pre-season is not enough to judge players. Plenty of positives from last night

any pre-season friendly is no waste of time. the result doesn't matter in my case. these games are to get players some match fitness, sharpness, seeing how new players are looking and fitting into the team etc.
as for new players, you simply can't judge a player on one game, whatever the performance. however playing new players together in the same team might not work, you've got to play some of them with the experienced members. Just give them time and matches and hopefully you'll get what your looking for out of them........now just keep off thier backs and get behind them.
as for the pre-season fixtures, i tend to agree that we should be looking to play against 'bigger' sides like league teams, as we've got to look at how the team fairs against a good determined side ready for a difficult season, something like what we could possibly be coming up against, and not these lower league teams

Having read the above, I can't see that playing Armo out of position achieved anything! and all the match did was to upset the good players. I have to agree with the rest, we need some strong matches. But we have to get on their backs to get them!

ok i can give 1 reason why we are not playing any league teams this is because FACT most bigger teams if playing another team in leagues below like to play away if you look at the fixtures for last weekend or this weekend you will see that this is true. so another thing this cant happen with borough because obviously are pitch needs its time because its just been re-layed. so instead of moaning and whining about the fixtures we got why not get behind borough and start making some postive comments.
