Lee Hook - GK
Ben Austin - RB Darren Baker - CB Marc Pullen - CB Neil Jenkins - LB
Mo Harkin - RM Paul Armstrong - CM Simon Wormull - LM
Andy Atkin (just behind front two)
J M Sigere Allan Tait
Attack is best form of defence. Not sure if Defence is best formation and it is important that they don't play too deep, but that they keep up and support with midfield and that midfield support and supply the Forwards? Ahh well, what do you reckon?

HOOK BAKER AUSTIN PULLEN JENKINS ARMSTRONG HARKIN WORMULL BALLARD ATKIN SIGERE
Ballard is worth a place as he is solid, good passer into the front two and adds a whole new option with his throw ins.

Again until we have seen them play we cant enter an insignificant thread. New players always have to fight for their places and muck stirring will not achieve anything.

seano, chill out, get involved in a bit of harmless fun,it's easy, grab a beer, sit down, log in,see whats been happening in the past 24 hrs(as you do) and post a relative reply!! not something with a dead end!! I did state in the start of this 'insignificant thread' it's "as things stand".That does not mean after one game, two games or ten games,it means right here right now (goonerboy will probably like that bit) As for muck stirring, can you elaborate please?

i like the positive thinking from vern, the only problem i could with see that formation is it looks a bit narrow,no wingers which might leave ben and jenko a little exposed, also may restrict ben from making his well known forward runs, could end up with a result of 5-5,that i suppose is not a bad thing, is it? what about this 3-5-2 hook
baker pullen jenko
austen wormull armo atkin m crabb
sigerre n crabb

Shocked! no wormull in starting 11!! He's a shoe in for the forseeable future, then the rest of the ten men come after him. N Crabb is the goal poacher / impact striker - super sub IMO. Unless he can get super fit and impress for 90 minutes. I think that the combination of strikers will be the fascinating thing to watch. I reckon that the defence is as was. The midfield will be experience in Conference first: Harkin, Armo, Wormull and one other. I think that Wormull will be the vital engine in the midfield to marshall and keep the midfield pushing up and supporting the forwards. Last season we were prone to playing too deep at times and exposing ourselves at the back to the Opposition. I think that Wormull will make sure that that does not happen! IMO I think that Smart was a good link with moves up the field, but was carrying a few injuries, respect due to him for battling on through. Budd has got quick feet, but does need a bowling green of a pitch to do his thing, maybe he'll get that at the Lane? Can't wait!
