I read in the short interview with Nick G, in the Herald, that he was planning to improve fitness levels on last season, so as to cope with the full time opposition teams. Does anyone know how the fitness levels are going to be increased this coming season? I would guess that if they trained once a week, they'll now train twice weekly?? If this was to be the case, I guess this will be a challenge for some of our squad - Jenkins and Hook? I hope everyone, from last seasons winning Play Off side make the transition up to BSP.

I stand to be corrected but apart from midweek matches, I thought they did train 2 evenings a week last season on Tuesday & Thursday.
In appreciating we will play as a part time squad, I suggest increased fitness levels will come via a combination of training sessions covering endurance, stamina, speed, agility and strength. I'm sure G&N will ensure all the squad are paced correctly to meet both the demands of players employment and in preparation for matches against full time clubs. Other factors could include nutrition and psychology.

As you suggest, that if they already train on Tuesdays and Thursday, then it must be that the science and psychology must play an even greater part in each individual player's training schedule. All I can say is that it's a world away from "tantum a ortus pars"

It sure is but as the club enters this new world, I'm sure it'll be a time for exploration, learning and ongoing development

And I think that's why the phrase has been adopted ....... everytime the club progresses and develops it's one in the eye for the 'detractors' but also reminds us of where the club came from ......
