hi,
wrexham fans are compiling a conference guide for our travelling supporters and ive been asked to "do" the eastbourne experience.
i wonder if you could help me with a few questions?
1. are you optimistic/pessimistic regarding the new campaign?
2.Where do you think you will finish in the league?who do you think will go up/down?
3.who is your main man?
4.how would you describe the atmosphere at your ground?
5.how many of you will come to the cae ras? (oldest international ground in the world)
6. when we come to yours,is it worth making a weekend of it?
many thanks and good luck for the coming season.

OK i will have a go although there are far more knowledgable people on here than me.. 1.Hoping we can stay up with a few decent signings.. 2 Above Lewes for sure..3 They are all superstars(not the crap 70's programme).. 4 Docile- not really, can occasionally get pretty good with the drums etc, need more to sing though.. 5 Not me because im not a superfan, guessing maybe a coachful.. 6 If its warm and sunny then sure go for it, take a trip to Beachy Head(no jumping if we stuff you though).. If its cold and wet then forget it..

1. Optimistic, think we are going to suprise a few people, subject to a few good signings.
2. Just below halfway.
3. Difficult to say, we don't have any big name signings, lots of local players. At a push, Mark Pullen, quality centre half.
4.Friendly, 3 yards from the pitch all round. Did have a little trouble with some youngsters following round away suppoerters towards the end of the season. Nothing serious though.
5. Hopefully 50ish.
6. Yes, Eastbourne is a holiday resort, as artie says lots to see around the town. Pubs in town centre are average but trouble free for the most part They even let the Welsh in !!!

Agreed with the above, but as I undestand it, Lewes got paid for being 1st and we got Sweet FA. so a lot depends on how they squander the money. I predicted this year correct, back in September, but may have had us at top. Next year is impossible as we have not had a team announced. If we can be higher than or near Crawley it would be fantastic. for our ego!

OK, my answers are as follows:
1. Optimistic for the new season. Can't be anything else; we're in a division quite a bit higher than could possibly have been imagined even ten years ago, so everything is good.
2. Where will we finish? I'll put my neck out and say top half, probably just into the top three. Never challanging for a play-off place, never in danger of going down. Who will go up/down? Up, I feel that there may be a surprise or two in stock, but I really don't know. I reckon Salisbury and Wrexham will both make the play-offs, top of the league? I'd chance it on Cambridge, but no real idea.
Going down, Lewes (rock bottom, doing a good impression of Derby County, but with less points), Altrincham, Barrow and one other. Possibly Weymouth.
3. Depends on what day it is! When things go wrong, it is Lee Hook (goalkeeper). Otherwise, it is one of the many hundreds of Crabbs which infest the club, Tait, Atkin or (when he gets a game) Wilde. For consistancy over the season, probably Armstrong, Pullen or Smart - don't often shine, but rarely make a mistake. Overall, our best player is the team spirit, as a team they are much better than the individual players suggest. Apart from off-days, when they can get stuffed by a pub team!
4. Atmosphere is either great, when full and drums are going, or else very polite and genteel, when the drums are quiet. Friendly and elderly probably describes it!
5. If I'm not working, I'll be there! Might be an international ground, but last time I was there, the chips were almost inedible! Have they improved since the 1980's?
6. YES! Probably the best away weekend of the season, bar none! Apart from the depths of winter, when raining, when it is a hole!

yup, "doing" lewes as well.
whats the rivalry about between you and them? just local or is it religion or class?
i really feel for lewes.
property developer owners usually means bad karma somewhere down the line.it certainly did here at wrexham ,hence the new rivalries we are looking forward to forging.
i see your board are looking to form a cic via a share issue, thats fantastic news for you guys, something we would like to do at wrexham.

1. Optamistic if we sign at least 3 more players. 2 17th. 3. the key player next season will nathan crabb. 4. can be really good, theirs one stand that sings it's heart out home and away , and is helped by drums, a bell and a trumpet! we just need more people to help us vocally home and mostly away but the group that do sing will always have sore throats the next day garunteed.5. maybe about 10 of us. 6. definately worth making a weekend, eastbourne has a lot to offer- the beach obviously, shopping is quite good, there are many night clubs if you're into that, the pier can be quite fun and some of the hotels are nice, you wouldn't get bored

ouch.we would probably bring c3000 for a game that big. Our capacity is approx 5500; and that's bursting at the seams. I'm sure the Club would try to get as many supporters in, within the realms of safety and Police advice. Anyones guess over 3500. If this scenario occured then it might be ticket only. You'd then have to have a lottery to see who got your allocation. Pure guesswork. And, presumably we would have crowd segregation. You'd have the bottom end (River End) and you'd struggle to get more than a 1000 odd down there.
