Hi guys, Cambridge fan here..
Welcome, in a few weeks time, to the BSP. Well done on the play-off win. Obviously over here we're gutted to have missed out at Wembley - so close an' all that, but we had our most positive year for a some time. Even though pre-season doesn't start for a month and a half, looking for it, as I'm sure yous are.
Anyway, I'll also be moving to Eastbourne in a few months time (from where I'll be travelling to all Cambridge games), so I've an extra interest in your team, I guess.
So, I'm really just putting my head around the door - I've seen all the teams in the BSP at least twice (except the promoted/relegated lot, including yourselves) and would be happy to put you up to speed on teams/grounds/players and the like...!
And although it's a fair way off yet, with teams yet to sort out their squads, have you any particular hopes for Borough next season?
All the best.

Hello Millsy, My own hopes are for Boro to add a few quality players to the squad. Player's that can get us playing a more fluid game. My own perspective on last season is that we came second and won the Play Offs without playing any of our best football, that we are capable of, and have been able to show in our less successful seasons. I think that our best game was against Lewes in the Setanta Shield - we thrashed them 7 - 2. Bromley Away in the League was the kind of game we were playing well against a good side. Apart from that I think that we have been quite scrappy. The end result counts, but I personally have been frustrated that we haven't managed to find our rhythm more often. A couple of quality players from higher League teams that can help to connect our play up. We are tenacious and have great team spirit, but need to use our wide players more....IMO.

I agree with Vern. In the last 5 years or so, I've watched a variety of conference/premier league and cup matches. In cup matches the underdogs will often over perform to create unexpected results. (e.g. Horsham, Havant and Chasetown last season). But success should really be measured through the bread & butter of weekly league games and the final table position. The conference is blessed with many experienced, individual full time players who use their daily training sessions to improve fitness, skills and work on team tactics like player movement and understanding and free kicks. Don't forget that managers & players have access to every opposition matches via videos. G&N have, as vern states, installed a great team spirit. But the league is all about results. If we can add 2 or 3 experienced, quality players to our squad, use the wings and produce well rehearsed free kicks with someone having a long throw (Ballard!) we will enjoy our 08/09 season
