BREAKING NEWS: Lewes FC 'not for sale'
LEWES FC has rejected a takeover plan and said the club is 'not for sale'. This morning (Friday) managing director Martin Elliott released a letter sent to a consortium which wanted to buy the club.
It said it would not be in the 'best interests of the club' to sell.
He also dismissed reports that former manager SteveADVERTISEMENTKing would be reinstated.
Mr Elliott said the club was currently negotiating with Lewes District Council about the possibility of taking over the trust which owns the football ground and surrounding area.
Discussions were also underway with Sussex Downs College to set up community sports scheme.
He said: 'With these issues still unresolved we believe that it would not be in the interest of the club or the community project to change ownership at this time. However, we do wish to work with someone with the view of them taking over the club as the opportunity presents itself.'
Mr Elliott concluded: 'The club is not for sale but the board would consider an offer if one was received, no offer has been received.
'The matter is now closed and the board will be confirming the current set up with Kevin Keehan as manager.'
On Monday the club received a bid from an unnamed consortium and the Lewes FC board of directors were due to discuss it last night (Thursday).

Very sad IMO to visit the Lewes web site and see the anger and upset that the fans are expressing. After all we are all football fans and you would not want to wish there situation on any club.Reminded me of the dark days at Brighton. There may come a time when they will need our support.

So he has the money to take over the trust! Strange situation. Keeping it very tight to his chest. A bit like our club at the moment!
