Now Paul Booth has gone, bet they are even unhappier. He has gone to Havant who surely must be looking at going up next season.

Lets all laugh at Lewes No, let's NOT laugh at Lewes. Instead why don't we demonstrate that we're above all that and thank our lucky stars that we have a Chairman and Committee with their collective feet firmly on the ground. I think that Lewes have been victims not of their own success, but extraordinary naivity and a willingness to give their manager too much freedom. Personally, I think Martin Elliott had little choice but to do what he did, ultimately for the good of the Club, only that he probably should have done it 12 months earlier before the brakes failed on the bandwagon. In the long run it will be better for Lewes to get relegated and consolidate back in BSS than to do a 'Halifax', 'Telford' ... or any of a number of clubs you could think of and find themselves back in Div 2 of the Sussex County League as AFC Lewes 2009! But that's tough for the Lewes supporters to take right now and I do have some sympathy with them. So let's not gloat ... sometimes gloating comes back to bite you on the bum! Let's also not forget that WE are also going to find it tough next season. I hope we can survive, and am confident that we can. Equally however, we have to accept that there is no way that Len will allow the Club to get into serious debt by 'chasing the dream' and will rather use the season for 'experience' for another day, than try to stay up by throwing money at it.

well said I tried to say something along the same lines in"there for the grace of god and len smith"before I accidentally deleted the post. There is allot of anger with some of the Lewes supporters and they seem to be split over what has happened. We are fortunate indeed to have the stewardship that we have.We will all need to get behind the club next season and as I have said before we can all help in different ways from turning up through to sponsorship.

I wonder if it's worth them playing at Confrence level, if they are strugling to find a decent team! They should do the honeable thing and allow the next one up!

I can see that you enjoyed your post so much that you felt the need to post it twice!! I must agree with the wise words of DB - gloating is not big and it ain't clever! Sussex sides in Conference is great - the more the merrier!! think of all that fuel that could be saved in travelling expenditure........

In all seriousness, I also hope Lewes survive (so long as they end up below Boro), simply because I want to see more Sussex teams playing at a higher level, not leaving it all up to BHA, who just are not up to the job.
Mind you, if they do end up as the Derby of the BSP (looking quite likely at the moment), I will laugh like a drain.
