i have been a fan of boro for years now but i need to express my feelings of disappointment for boro because this club is a great club and could do very well but the only problem is.................MONEY. i really hope the board can get the money for new players , not county league, we need to think of people who can play at this level e.g. Dan Beck he cant be happy sitting near the bottom of bss. and also if you didnt hear brighton have released 10 players including Gary Hart, Guy Butters and Kerry Mayo all of theese would be great signings for now anyway.

Money. . .the root of all evil so they say. Yes, like me the club would like more to spend, but I've never had enough 'dough' to spout those red horns although some might say I dont need money to spout 'em Although next season needs planning sooner rather than later, lets just wait to see what league we're playing in! Our community club has come a long way in a short time, is stable, well run with finances in good order. The club has invested in right areas and continues to do so. . i.e new pitch drainage system for next season. Unlike some other past non-league clubs I could name, we dont want to throw good money away. The players you mention have proven league experience and could be an asset. But G & N already have a good team and squad. Quite a few other BSS clubs have added ex-league players in their team. . . .and unlike us, they never reached the play-offs

Hart, Mayo and Butters would be awful signings in my opinion as they're all past it. I believe Gary Hart was on loan at Havant earlier this season and was dreadful.

Liam, I was saying the same things, a little while back. But, it ain't having a hatful of ex-pro's in the side. They'd be a certain drain on finances. It is having the master blend of league experience and fresh, ok raw, talent from County League. It must be said that GnN have proven they are Master Blenders as look where we are!!?

....having said all that, there will come a time when the Committee can't take us any further, as you stated MONEY! Yes, this will be the glass ceiling. But, we haven't reached it yet, so party on!!!!!!! ;D

They should have a financial plan for both possibilities and players they want to target.

I think we can be pretty confident that there have already been plenty of conversations between Garry & Nick, and Len Smith and his Committee.
G&N will certainly already have a short-list of players they want to speak to but will have been waiting to see what happened on Thursday night first. One obvious issue is three Sussex clubs in BSP next season ... all chasing the same or similar players (well, perhaps not Lewes now, if the media reports are correct).
Borough may well benefit from the financial belt-tightening at the 'Pan' and personally I would like to see the likes of Drury, Simpemba and Robinson in a Borough shirt ... also players like Gatting, Reid and (a fit) Fogden from the Albion Reserves side I saw on BH Monday. However, it's a question of availability, whether we can afford them (Len won't break the bank for sure), and whether they fit into the plans G&N have for the squad next season ... there is no point 'collecting' players for the sake of it.
I believe the strength of the current squad is that it is a homeogenous 'unit' - no really outstanding individuals but a great blend, and we don't want to lose that in my opinion. However, clearly to survive at the next step up we will need to strengthen although that need not be radical changes ... some of the players we have will be able to make that transition.
Ex-pros are not the answer - a drain on finances and questionable commitment.
Additional funding will need to be found. Yes, we will attract more fans from opposing clubs next season, if only the novelty value of visiting a 'new' club by the seaside; and we will get TV money from Setanta ... although set against that (presumably) will be the requirement for improved floodlights and construction of a TV gantry etc. to accommodate TV.
I don't know that the current deal is with Town Properties / Flats for shirt sponsorship but would imagine there might be an argument for increasing that (and other strategically placed boards) in light of TV coverage. Lorna is going to have to put all her Oxford United experience to good use but one can only hope that the Town and businesses finally wakes up to the potential it has on its doorstep ... although I won't hold my breath.

be nice if we could have a package where you get admission ,programme and a couple of half time draw tickets for £15 or so. so many supporters seem reluctant to dig to deep in there pockets and look horrified when ask if they would like half time draw tickets, i also think the gate should remain closed till about ten minutes from full time to stop the free loaders getting in for free at half time..just my opinion but looking forward to other views on these matters....

Excellent summation Davidb, and having a colleague at work who is a Havant season ticket holder the point about ex pros is well made. He told me that with Gary Hart turning out for them last season, in his words 'he looked like he couldn't care less'.
