Clueless Colin he had his budget cut at welling at Christmas will documented and has finished 3rd and are now in the playoff final They lost a few players and staff but they were up there from early on ........ due to the large budget. Like I say though, it’s a personal thing.

But surely there is a reason why no club ever does this? I agree the club has been very poor in supporter communication for years but on something like this there is no need to announce anything until ink is dry on contracts etc. On a personal note, I do hope the king doesn’t enter the building. I think he divides too many supporters, yes he has had results at this level but at what cost? The only club he’s been at where he had a restricted budget was Northwich due to their financial problems, what did he achieve there? Resigned shortly before they were mathematically relegated. If he has a huge budget, he’ll get the players to get results. Huge budget is something that won’t be seen at Priory Lane. I'm sorry but this post just about sums up a total lack of ambition. A manager is given a budget how he chooses to use that is up to the manager and sanctioned by the clubs Board. That's why clubs sets a budget and has a Board of directors to monitor it any club who doesn't are not doing their job. Mr King's record on the pitch speaks for itself. Tell me, what would you prefer to watch football as designed by Widdrington, Howell and McGee or something exciting. Exciting winning football teams draws in the fans, more fans equates to more money and equates to a healthy club and better players and so the cycle begins again. At the end of the day however gets the job the club has to back him and show some ambition and dare I say it backbone. Otherwise admit to the fans where the club should be.

Cliffe it’s not all about lack of ambition, more I think about accepting our limitations. We all know the club has struggled since the relegation from the prem, we never challenged for the playoffs or better because for one reason or another things haven’t worked out, on and off the pitch. Borough have never made a secret of how tough it was financially in the league above and the gap clearly gets bigger and bigger each year. Time and time we’ve seen clubs go to the wall because they’ve thrown money at the first team to go for broke. Borough never have been and never will be a club that works in that way. We will always struggle to compete with the big budget sides unless there is substantial investment. I agree that the club needs to back and support whoever gets the job as it’s pointless not to. As a supporter i will back the club whatever their decision. my opinion is just That, an opinion. Steve King is like marmite unfortunately

Marmite Or not personalities should not be taken into account it should be about how good the manager is and there is no doubt he would have brought the club success weather you like him or not have you ever meet him?have you ever spoke to him?or even been in his company probably the answer to those questions is NO but yet you judge on hearsay which is dangerous,I have spoke to him at games and he is very approachable knowledgeable young man, that’s my opinion

Actually I think your statement regards ambition sums up the clubs attitude entirely. Are you suggesting that their happy just to make up the numbers? If so I’m shocked...every football fan wants their club to fight to win things and be the best. The best examples are Hastings and Lewes look at their seasons on small budgets amongst some big spending teams. With regards Steve King I know him on a personal level and he’s a fans manager. He’ll took to people and his drive and enthusiasm is infectious. I’ll remind you of my earlier chat comments regards money and budget it’s the clubs responsibility to manage these things. The manager uses what he is given to the best of the ability. I still maintain if those in power had put aside their personal views and though about the club,it would have been King in charge not Widdrington and we wouldn’t be worrying about relegation fights or mid table being a success. Let’s hope those in charge make the right decisions this time.

True cliff the problem is the decision has been made already And lee is not a bad appointment but SK is miles ahead of him and it’s his home town club and everybody that I speak to wanted it to be SK there are also a lot of people on the board that wanted him as well and the reasons behind him not coming in are the same as they always have been a couple of people do not want him and they have stopped the major take over happening because they do not want to lose control and if they sold the majority shares to the new guys he would have been our manager they are the facts I have been around the club along time and know exactly what is going on

Call me or anyone who disagrees with you clueless all you like but the two sides are there for all to see. In the non league world we live in financial stability is key, I personally would rather the club not take the risk.

Fact - not MM
Eastbourne Borough FC would like to place on record their sincere gratitude to interim manager Mark McGhee and his staff for securing the clubs National League South status over a dramatic Bank Holiday weekend at the start of April and we wish him well at his next appointment

A rare post from yours truly; reasons are well known.
Firstly, I am sorry for my part that I have had less input to the club website in recent weeks. That is for personal reasons but I expect normal service to resume in due course. As one or two of you have pointed out, many jobs at the club - like any sports or football club of our size - are done by volunteers. We do what we can.
Secondly, on the management vacancy, the club expects to announce firm news before the end of Tuesday. The club has never responded to rumours, or made announcements prematurely, and that will not change.
Thirdly, it's disappointing that some people still have this relentless compulsion to be first to spread information. I don't believe for a moment that it's done out of some selfless motive to keep supporters in the know. It's a kind of game, and it's an ego trip. When a story is broken about something as important as a managerial post, it's done either by someone very close to the selection panel, or by someone close to one of the candidates. Make your own minds up.
And finally, to those who still want to take a pot-shot. I try not to make enemies (I've no problem with being criticised) and I would love, absolutely love to have a forum where we could debate and discuss without acrimony. Back last autumn, I PM'd three people who are frequent posters on the Unofficial Forum, and suggested we meet for a beer or a cuppa, choose your poison - clear the air, shake on our differences, clear up misunderstandings. (As it happens, there was a really sensitive and personal situation at that time with our then player-coach, and posters were pressing for answers to questions which Ian wanted kept private. I reckoned I might be able to smooth that one out, if I could talk face to face, rather than with people who use anonymous monokers.)
So I made the offer, in all sincerity, to those posters. Did they reply? Have one guess. I rest my case.
Keep the faith and back the new guy - whoever he may be.....
