Horsham 3 - 1 Boro
After spending 3 days toying with formations and training this week playing passing football in a packed midfield trying to spring a high back line Eastbourne Borough's best laid plans were wrecked when Skipper John Reeves twisted an ankle in the afternoon, two of the starting 11 couldn't make the game and the pitch was more suited to the Battle of the Somme than decent football.
A quick reshuffle 45 minutes before kick off looked ok on paper but after five minutes a shot on the turn from outside the box found it's way into the box past keeper Hilfiker to give Horsham the lead.
5 minutes later James Stone levelled the scores with a well taken goal and for the rest of the half the teams battled with the pitch and some strange refereeing decisions made mainly from the centre circle...
Only one other clear chance fell to Charlie Mackay when he rounded the keeper but his shot was blocked on the line by a defender.
Second half was much the same with not really any chances for either side and Boro looked like they may manage to get away with a point until Horsham took a free kick quickly out on their left and a speculative long shot made it 2-1 on 80.
With the visitors pushing for the equalizer the home side got a third late on.

That's a shame after doing so well.
