Seeing Andrews excellent quiz conjured up a lot of good memories, especially the Fisher game when Ben scored, physco keeper Maurice Munden(what a character he was) chased the ref half way down the pitch! And after what has been a topsy-turvy season made me think, if I was allowed to keep one Langney/Boro memory, what would it be? For me it was winning the county league on Burgess Hills turf. What a game that was, from the start, to the finish when they lost and turned off the flood lights! Seems such a long time ago, look how far we have come. Now, what about anyone else? Ask your terrace buddies (real or imaginary!), even newer supporters must have some good ones, the Oxford games maybe? It will be good to hear some.
Rob.

For me, a relatively new supporter (first game 1997 v Saltdean), it has to be that night at Burgess Hill. Like many, I went hoping to see the title being clinched in the champions' backyard. When Sports went 2-1 down in the pouring rain and mud (what an awful night!) it didn't look good. Having spent the first half on the stand down the touchline, my dad and I spent the second half out in the open getting wet behind the Burgess Hill goal (by the tea bar!). Was only 15 at the time. Can still remember Tony Burt's header and then John Snelgrove's sliced winner going past the Hillians 'keeper. And then came the Klinsmann dive from all the squad and management into the goalmouth! An amazing night.
Other great memories - my first game, coming back from 0-2 down v Saltdean United at half-time (Dean Lightwood was in goal for Saltdean, Millwall winger Paul Ifill was also in the team) to win 3-2. The comeback v Fisher was a classic, including Ben's first goal. Yemi's hat-trick v Thurrock, the play-off semi at Ship Lane, the play-off final at Stoke, Oxford home and away...the list is endless!

My greatest memory was the FA Cup repay against Berkhampstead (I think), 0-0 at the end of normal and extra time. Even till the last penalty when big Sean McFadden made a world class save going full length to his right and finger tipping the last penalty round the post. For me the save was especially brilliant as Macca started to go left and then changed direction. You could have heard a pin drop whilst we were waiting for that last kick. A truely unforgettable evening.

One of the few Cup games around that time I couldn't get to. Remember the demolition of Eastbourne Town at the Saffrons (another crucial penalty save in that one at 1-0 up I seem to remember - scored the 2nd virtually from the next attack). the cup wins over Harrow Borough (Jeremy Creed, what a goal) and Havant and Waterlooville - what a result. And of course the trip to Whyteleafe - disappointing, although Chris Dicker hit the bar from a corner.

I remember the Jez Creed goal, Maradone eat your heat out, he went staight through the middle of the team. We went to the Havant game 2-0 at half time and looking dead in the water, what a second half fight back ending with the tremendous finger tip save by I think Olly Oxley or was it Sinon Davey (a little memory slip there). We beat them in the reply and one of their guts got sent off and beat up the changing room door. I still to this day beleive we should have beaten Whyteleafe which would have given us Carlisle at the Lane (i think).

Had Borough beaten Whyteleafe they'd have had to have beaten Bognor in the fourth qualifying round (which Whyteleafe did) to earn a home time with Chester City.
And it was Ollie with the Havant save; he saved a couple more in his Sports career, including one at Whyteleafe I seem to remember???

Having double checked (for my own peace of mind only) your right. I think you cannot beat a good cup run. Personally that is the one downer of climbing so high we don't get to travel to so many new places.
