i think judging by are slack draw with cambridge where we had to pull it out of the hta and the fact that sutton and newport somehow won that we are in genuine danger!!!

Realistically we are looking at one relegation place as Maidenhead cannot overtake us.
All teams at the bottom are fighting for their lives and every game is going to be difficult.
There are going to be some surprise results (as there were last year when Carshalton beat us 4-1 to stay in the division.)
This was a vital point today and we had some luck which is well overdue, especially with the shot that hit the post in the first half after Hooky hesitated.
However, Tucky did the business and showed the forwards where the net is. Cambridge are one of the better sides in this division and we have shown that we generally play better against the better sides.
However, the match with Welling is vital. They are in great form and a point there will be a real bonus. It is possible and I am sure the point today will give the team some confidence.

I know I've made my views quite clear, and the game yesterday has not changed my mind one jot. There is, without a doubt, something fundamentally wrong. We have a great Ground, great support, healthy sponsorship; ta Tony...everything tickedy boo...can I assume healthy revenue, without a Weymouthski Sugar Daddy. So, we still, game after game after game struggle to find strength, shape and stamina for 90 minutes. We had possession which went sideways but laboured getting it up the pitch...giving them time to crowd the area and they soaked up alot BUT they were RAPID and DIRECT in countering and must be gutted they didn't kill us off. We were chasing the game AT HOME, AGAIN! their keeper had few saves to make, fortunately Tuck saved our blushes, scoring with a free kick 88 minutes. Talking of LUCK we shouldn't and mustn't rely on results elsewhere going in our favour. We have great individuals out there on the pitch, but not a great team. should we survive, then a massive rethink is required for next season.

Alan, I don't agree that there are huge problems.
I think it has been obvious that what the team lacks is someone who can put their foot on the ball, calm things down and boss the midfield. I did have hopes that Anthony Storey might be the man at the beginning of the season but unfortunately he has been drawn into the principal of 'I must get rid of the ball as soon as I receive it' which almost everyone else has.
It was plain to see yesterday thay we were content to leave a gap of 20 yards between our forward line and the midfield which gave Cambridge the chance to build the ball up from defence to their attack without a challenge until they were almost in our penalty area.
I really do feel that we are not playing much different football than last season. However, last year we were confident, this year we are not.
For next season we need to recruit an experienced ex-pro for midfield who can boss things around and calm it down. This is a bit like Danny Chapman did last season but obviously we need someone with a better level of fitness.
Another area we need to recruit a new player (or two) is up front where we need a player with height and pace. We have seen so many of our opponents this season with such a player and now is time that changes will have to be made. Looking at the goalscoring chart for the league and the fact we have no-one there proves where our problem lies.
The final area requiring changes is the deadball situations. ( OK I know we scored from one yesterday but that was due to Tucky's foresight and skill!) We never look dangerous from corners or free kicks and seem devoid of ideas whereas when our opponents have a corner we look panickiy in defence.
I know there are a number of areas mentioned but it would not take a vast re-organisation to bring them around. A couple of new recruits, better training of dead ball situations and there we have it.

Spoke to a couple of Cambridge fans, we all agreed that we were a little fortunate to get a point. I thought we played alright in the first half and was quite optimistic of getting a result. But the usual pattern was to follow, they got a rocket up their backsides at half time and we were probably told to keep what we had. As is the norm these days, we could see what was coming, yes we conceded. Only then did we start to play as we all know we can and should. Great goal by Tucky! How did their keeper stay on the pitch? First of all he shoved a fan in the face, then he head-locked Lee! All this in front of the ref who just bottled it! Sill I think we will survive........just!

Alan, I don't agree that there are huge problems. Fundamental i.e. significant / base issues that need to be sorted out, that is what i mean. A lot of the problem may be confidence. Also it may be that there is not a Steve Harper player up front and there is not a John Piercey player in the middle...? Somebody does need to marshall the midfield; to keep them up the pitch and to orchestrate the flow of passes up to the forwards, showing urgency and speed!! or able to slow the game down, as required. We have been on the receiving end of sides with good organisation in the middle and attackers that know where our net is. Not to mention set ball situations and Corners; which we conceded a goal from today. We do have some great player's and the potential for a side that can play other Conf South teams off the pitch.
