I realise money is tight at the club but does anyone know if there are plans to repair the scoreboard? It looks like the display from a 1970’s radio/alarm that’s been to too may boot fairs. Surely it can’t be that expensive to fix?

great result well done to the whole team ...as i quoted the other day lets beat the sides around us so this win against highflying Dorking was a bonus...onwards and upwards another hard game saturday at slough but we will go there with new confidence ....a smile back on my face two wins in a row !!

The old score board is well past it,s sell by date. It costs a lot of money to fix and all the parts come from France. With finance as it is at the moment it,s probably the last thing on the committee,s agenda.

Thanks for update drummerboy. It's a shame though as it gives a poor impression.

Great win on Saturday, the lads played their hearts out. The problem I think we are going to have is that we are going to have to play with this intensity every game to get points. We have seen what happens when we don't. Teams in this league tend to put muscle before brain. Certainly Dorking did. Lots of graft, but not enough craft. Whereas we are the other way round. Also we have a number of players who are injury prone. We need a bigger squad if we are to survive at this level. for the life of me why can't we get a proper central striker? Walker's work rate is great, but he gets a real battering, as does Luer. We must get a striker who wont be bullied off the ball. Talking about being bullied, then Ferry is worrying me, his distribution was his best asset, but now he can't find his team mates for love or money and his body language is not good. For me Gayle was man of the match with Kinda-John close.

Heard that Hadler is injured and Scott is doubtful. That leaves with that very nervous lad who was in goal against Dorking.

Going back to the scoreboard - what are the costs involved - is it something we can have a whip around for at the next few games to help ??

Sounds a good idea - nowadays called crowd funding!

TBH im led to believe the scoreboard is beyond repair. Water has got into the circuit board and rotted it out. This was brought up at the CIC meeting just before xmas. As of the goalkeepers , Tom has a knee infection and Federico is temping between the posts as we can,t afford to get Scott injured before the Sailsbury game.

Good points raised about the scoreboard. Lovin' the descriptions of wobbly 1970s alarm clocks...
It is probably close the end of its natural. A bit like my old Citroen Picasso (and a similar age) - annual decision whether to shell out and coax it through another MoT, or leave it behind a hedge and walk quietly away....
Graham Austin and I have actually spoken about a future project with a super-snazzy scoreboard - not unlike the one at Slough as it happens. One that provides better displays, extra information, even little video clips. But the likely cost would be into five figures, and so beyond the scope of crowd-funding - it would need a commercial sponsor. For the moment, this season is about survival on all fronts - and putting up with the dodgy electrics for now. And then we can build.

You may think i'm daft but i'll say it anyway. I have a bedside digital display clock/radio that I managed to spill most of the contents of a pint of water over !! Surprise surprise it tripped out the electrics and stopped working (water and electricity bad mix). Just thought i'd give it a go on its side in the airing cupboard and a few days later plugged it in and the sound was back and another couple of days the digital readout was back to its former self and still is today. My point is that perhaps a pull over waterproof tarpaulin for our digital clock may be a cure when it is not in use and maybe even blowing some hot air may restore some or all of its dots.
Stupid or a possible low cost answer ??

Not stupid at all, Sideline. Speaking as a non-electrician anyway*. I will see if the Grimer Crew have any thoughts on that.
(*How many reporters does it take to change a light-bulb? Well let me see, there's one to do the background research, one to describe the live action, one to summarise, two to get pitchside reaction, two photographers for the action pics, and one media guy to upload to social media. Oh wait - we forgot to send someone to buy the bulb.)

If I ain’t broke don’t fix it, it might look dated but it does a job. Most people only glance at . I think providing it works spend the money on other important things.

Mr. Frake find it hard to understand your post as I dont wish to be rude but have you not noticed the state of the display at present?
It is broke.

Hi Sideline You might be onto a winner with your suggestion about blowing " HOT AIR " on the score board. We could get Dargiles82 to stand there, after all when it comes to hot air he/she is in a class of their own ??
