Well that was nerve wracking.. but what a win. We rode our luck at times and had Welling's poor finishing to thank on a few occasions, but this was not undeserved. Solid defensive display throughout and Smith was not really tested despite them hitting the woodwork twice in the first half. Thought we looked dangerous on the break but still sometimes missing the final ball or lacking ball control at the crucial moment, which will hopefully come as the season progresses. One or two really neat combinations though. Overall a pretty promising performance and enjoyed it.. most of the time!

First chance to see the squad and obvious delight in beating Kingy's Welling . Last ditch defending to hang on to that lead for the majority of the second half but I am sure that is a good sign of the lads wanting to play for the shirt and the manager. Impressed with the tenacity and greater speed and agility of our back 5 which was often lacking last year and would have led to us loosing before.
Sergio and Kane ran their socks off as usual but Ryan Hall now really adds to that in midfield. Dawesy was terrific again and scored but it was wise to sub him to avoid those injuries he often picks up. Walker and Cox ok but got to get fully fit and find their link up play with their new team mates. Went home with a smile on my face.

We got totally out classed welling hit the post and bar 3 times and missed so many chances, the long haired boy for them missed from 3 yards out in the 1st have and the 2nd half there finishing was not good if welling had won that game 4-1 we could not of had any complaints we had one shot in the whole game in 95 min,we must take the points but we got out of jail for sure,we can write that we did this and that but we never, how we got 3 point out of that god only knows,Lady Luck shone on us tonight, move on to sat hopefully for 3pts and a better Performance

The team has hardly played together up until now, with 4 players from the starting line-up having arrived within the past week or so - so no surprises when they make a few mistakes (lack of understanding/miscommunication etc.). Also bear in mind the fact that I wouldn’t be surprised to see Welling in and around the play-off spots come the end of the season. Taking all that into consideration this was a decent performance at this stage of the season. We obviously have a lot of room for improvement, but holding on to get 3 points against strong opposition can only be positive moving forward.

Thought we played really well. Yes we were under the cosh a bit in the second half but we came through it . So many players could of got MOM award Serg , Harry Ranson , Dawes Kristian Campbell. Now we move on to Truro at home this Saturday who,s manager has decided to leave them with 2 games played.

Sometimes luck is just on your side isn't it? Welling had a host of chances that they should have buried but fair play to the Boro lads they stayed strong and limited the chances at least as the pressure grew towards the end of the game.
They could have buckled under it but they didn't and now there are 4 points and 2 clean sheets to show for it. A really positive start to the season, onwards and upwards!

2 clean sheets,4 points in 2 games I will settle for that. There was plenty of talking ,organising & team spirit, I thought Wills was well deserving of MOM & Gardener marshalled the back four superbly. Pollard improved as the game went on against a good player & Campbell & hall seem to be building a good partnership. Finishing may have been the difference but 1 chance 1 goal is quality, didnt see much from mills. Teams will cause problems at set pieces but the defending was resolute & pollard & ransom will grow & not get bullied. I thought the subs were right & the formation change at the right time & Martin & west improved us, i like cox behind the striker 4-4-1-1. We need to make the ball stick more up top to give the back four some respite ,but Dawes & especially yemi caused enough problems. If you sit in then opponents will have more of the ball ,but as much as the left back had the ball his accuracy of delivery was poor. There are teams all over Europe that sit back & hit teams on the break & if everyone subscribes to it then it can be an effective tactic. Kings extensive list of contacts seemed to run out at EB & whitehawk & his only tactic was to put another striker on to crowd the space even more. Gavin was consistent in his performance & pinney won't play with mills & Goldberg in the squad. A lot of people would have complained if we had lost 4-1 but we didn't ,we won 1-0 so enjoy it.

My thoughts for what they are worth:
Sussex2000 you obviously don't like the club - why do you still watch ?
The game - yes we rode our luck but the stats will show we scored and they didn't - even with the 9ft prolific scorer Danny Mills up front - down to our back 4 not giving them any space and throwing themselves into blocking shots
People seem to forget we could have won 2-0 if Yemi had converted his 1 on 1 with keeper late in the second half
I think we have an undiscovered diamond in Kristian Campbell
And..............such an improvement on last season, majority of these are JH players now and I was impressed with last nights efforts - 4 points from first 2 games a Brucie Bonus I wasn't expecting - if we can beat a side like Welling and continue that form - things look exciting

Its been a long time since I saw a Boro' team absorb so much pressure and hold on to a 1 0 lead so successfully, the team performed well at the back, and as stated lady luck was with us on the 2 occasions Welling hit the woodwork but they only had themselves to blame for their woeful finishing although their players were not given any time when opportunities arose. We did have a couple of good efforts apart from the goal so it was not 1 shot 1 goal. If we can win games like this the signs are very promising. Great team effort.

Rode our Luck last night big time, but I was very impressed on how we dug in and worked for each other last night, last year we would of collapsed under that pressure. 4 points for 2 games is more than I estimated at this stage. Welling will be up the top this year so this result must not go unpraised
