Double bonus with Mark between the sticks and Smudge's insight on the forum !!
Also agree that Shaun O needs to show more fight and run his heart out to use his undoubted talent.

Great news this, with a keeper of Mark's quality now with us on a permanent basis the defensive area of the squad can really come together. I can understand the training thing whilst he was on loan here but now so much more is able to develop.

He must be mad to drop a level when he is clearly potential League 2 abvility.

He must be mad to drop a level when he is clearly potential League 2 abvility. While he may be good enough, it's tough for goalkeepers to break into a team when they're competing for one spot. If he can prove himself at this level, rather than spend a lot of time on the sideline, he may have greater chances in the future - look at Craig Ross for example. Also, if players believe they're too good to play at a certain level they won't get anywhere.. no one hands you anything on a silver plate. Some great players have started out in non-league (Jamie Vardy the most obvious example - Sergio Torres too!). I think Mark has a good attitude though and should go far.

He must be mad to drop a level when he is clearly potential League 2 abvility. Have to agree with everything What the Dickens said, in fact I’d go so far as to say he’d be mad not to take this opportunity! Mark left Brentford 18 mths ago, having been involved with the first team squad there and on the back of a Ryman league championship win at Hampton, he felt the opportunity to be No2 keeper at Aldershot was the best option rather than the offers of Under-23 football at various league clubs, at the time. Whilst I’m sure spending 18 months training alongside a keeper as experienced as Jake Cole will pay dividends, the fact is he has played just 14 times for Aldershot (a number of games he has nearly matched already at EBFC) I know, Mark, feels being at a club the management team has trust in him and clearly likes him (JH remembered Mark from Bognor playing against Mark at Hampton and was a massive influence on Mark signing on loan and now signing permanently) Playing every week for an established Conference South club, is a fantastic opportunity, too good to turn down and he/we hope he puts in performances worthy of your support. C’mon the Sports

Great news, this is the level the club should be getting players from. If you want to get out of a league get players from the league above even if its just the spine. Getting players with promise from the Ryman is good but it is a big step & it takes time,i think JH is learning this & permanent signings have always been better than loans.(IMO)
Good luck to Mark,he's made a commitment to the sports, I'm sure it will be a great move for both parties.
