Eastbourne Borough kept their unbeaten run going with a tough point at Three Bridges on Monday night.
As usual for Boro' on long away trips they started slowly as 'Bridges pressed high and a defensive switch had to be made after quarter of an hour when James Coyle had to come off injured after a late unpunished tackle in the first few minutes.
Tom Clift came on and slotted in at centre half but the home side played off their strong centre forward as much as they could from long balls and the pressure told after 26 when a shot from the edge of the box gave U16 'keeper Oli Cornford no chance.
A series of 5 corners in a row tested the reds but they defended well against a stiff breeze and half time came as 'Boro had started to wake up.
A few constructive words were needed at the break and the second half was nearly all Boro with Bridges restricted to a couple of chances on the counter and a corner which could have sealed the points but the visitors kept going showing great spirit and character.
Charlie Mackay and Chris Hutson came on with 25 to go and gave a little more bite in the midfield and as Bridges tired late on and dropped deeper and deeper their keeper was forced into a few good saves but it looked like they would hold out as 90 minutes ticked by.
Three minutes into injury time Mackay won a free kick and a Jacob Merrick near post delivery was met with a glancing header from Nick Richardson to equalize at the death. Just time to restart and just time for the referee to seal his shocking evening by blowing up when one pass from Merrick was about to set Mackay clean through on the home keeper.
Overall though probably a point each was enough and a much improved Bridges side will probably take points off a few more teams before the end of the season.
