Good idea. I certainly don't want to be 'an even-handed observer'! Whatever anyone thinks does"t change the result on the day. but it's livened up an otherwise dull Sunday. Right, I'm off to look at those old US Govt videos of the moon landings. Look a bit fishy to me. .. one minute after I wrote the above, one of the guys at work (a BBC cameraman) came over to look at the video that kicks off this thread and declared it 'bloomin obvious' that the ball went through the side netting. ' You can see how the ball kicks back slightly after catching the hole in the side netting and ends up behind the keeper.' Surely nobody can argue that it is a valid goal?" Mmmmmm.... Well maybe Tim we should trust the the veiw of people who actually saw the goal with their own eyes not a video on YouTube which we can never be sure whether it is trustworthy or not.

There once was a man called Pacquette Who headed the ball in the nette The Stones say it went through a whole But The Blade told them that is a goal Only the Almighty knows I bet.
Poor try a humour.
Some better rhymes please.

Posted this on the facebook page. Watched the video on some pretty neat enhancement equipment at a "facility" where I work and believe me this stuff is good. We enhanced the colour of the posts to be perfect white, while leaving the ball colour alone The ball clearly bounces outside the post and enters the net behind the post. The film film shows (and you can actually see this on the YouTube video) that the net moves inwards along with the towell as the ball passes through the gap. If the ball went the other side, the net would bulge outwards and that is rocket science. Interestingly pacmans reaction is not when the ball bounces but when it is clearly in the goal space. No one in the crowd reacts until pacman throws his arms up. Only pacman will know the truth because nothing is apparently clear..... As it happens, I would rather that it did go in through the side netting, because that represents a change in our luck maybe.....
Whatever the truth, a little bit of controversy has been created and that makes the game more interesting from my point of view.

For Goodness sake give it a rest, A referee said to me once after I said to him that it was not a goal the opponents just scored. He said just read the paper tomorrow and see if it was!

Without some controversial moments wouldn't life in general and football in particular be very dull ,I was at Priory Lane this morning when I noticed Mick S and Mick S trying out the various permutations ,not sure the outcome (the video camera was not running ) and RP was not in sight !

The obvious question, Borodale: Was there a hole in the net?

No ! ,there was no hole in the net ! OK. I'll buy it. I always thought that a net was a lot of holes tied together.

The camera isn't good enough to enhance the footage well enough, the quality is awful and reviewing the footage that has been ripped from youtube means the quality will be even lower.

Besides, after all the bad luck we have endured at home and away isn't it about time luck went our way!

I think Clavius hits the nail on the head. It needs someone from outside your own club to stir a bit of interest on here (and even then you refuse to admit the bleedin' obvious). I look forward to rejoining you next season, by which time there may be perhaps three new threads to read.

I agree the forum has become abit less active recently compared to a few years back when we would have several new threads daily, think it might be to do with more people dicussing things via the faceache page. I still prefer this forum format though..... Less poxy notifications!

We still have a small core of people who post regularly, a few good seasons and we'll get new members.

Sure the linesman checks the net before each game and when the teams reappear at halftime so really can,t see that it was a no goal also the guys who hang the net ie Roger Crompton Robbie Britcher or sinders would never allow a net with a hole in it be placed up without repair.
