Allow me to throw my hat into the ring; and if I offend some of our so-called "supporters"......well, quite frankly I couldn't give a stuff. I don't condone Rikki Banks turning to the Borough fans and abusing them with the most vilest swear word. How could you? However, I wouldn't have blamed him for one minute if he'd leapt over the barrier and "decked" a couple of yobs for repeatedly chanting " Banksy is a w....are" and "What do you think of s..t?.......Banksy". In fact we were hoping he would lose the plot and shut these morons up by giving them a slap. What ever happened to a bit of friendly banter and joshing with the opposition keeper? More to the point, where have these "fans"come from? They seem to be growing in number with their boring inane singing and are rapidly becoming a laughing stock with other clubs supporters in Conf South. I sat with the Ebsfleet fans at Stonebridge Road, keeping my allegiance a secret, and was embarrassed at having to listen to the comments that they were making about a couple of Borough supporters in particular. Their songs and boorish attitude are beginning to irritate some of our travelling support and I for one will not stand with them behind the goal at Priory Lane, a place I've taken up for 15 years, due to their puerile behaviours. I felt particularly sorry for the solitary Lewes steward who endured abuse and taunting by one Borough supporter( we all know who he is). The steward took it all in good humour and displayed the patience of a saint, particularly when he was been shown the "finger" as an obscene gesture. I couldn't help thinking that he would have been ejected at all Conference and Football League grounds pretty d**n quick. It seems the club is blighted with these followers who are discrediting the club; I don't know what the answer is....maybe their isn't one and we will just have to put up with their idiotic, infantile songs( if you can call them that!) and chanting until they lose interest and move on elsewhere. Let's hope so.....soon!

Hi Boroblade Well said! I was briefy behind the goal last night, but moved on quickly once that overweight moron started his offensive chanting. He was an absolute disgrace to the club be purports to support. It was a shame Lewes didnt have a few more stewards who could have thrown him out of the ground. All respect to the young steward sent to stand by him and take the abuse without reacting. Is this ‘supporter’ a regular at Priory Lane as I haven’t heard his voice at home games or does he only go to away games?
As for the match, Lewes, the ref and us were all poor. Just that we were the poorest of the lot! So inconsistent – slaughter Basingstoke one week, next cant string two passes together. Its all a bit of a mystery. Still to roll on Saturday

I to agree with the other League I club contributor ,he seems to find it funny to run round saying that " he does not care what anyone else thinks " ,he is not young and he should ask himself if he would bring his daughter to his performance ,at any higher league game he would have been thrown out ,perhaps if he acts like this at home he needs to be removed ,we have all been to games where passions have overrun but this is his / their normal behaviour and is bringing our Club into disrepute ,it is even deterring fans bringing children to the games which if it allowed to continue will cause long lasting damage to the club .The attitude to older fans is boorish and is disrespectful ,perhaps it should be remembered that without them there would not be any club ! .as aside line I wish the League 1 contributor all the best for tonight and hope to see you in the 5th Round of the FA Cup if not the semis !

Thank you Borodale for your support re the Blades game tonight. Ironic don't you think that the person we've been referring to in our earlier posts is a Tottenham fan!

Is it not a bit hypocritical to complain about people victimising Rikki and then Victimise Paul in such a manner? Really disrespectful.
Just remember that we're all here for one reason, this club. We're all one. End of.
Draw a line under it and let's move on. It's pathetic.

TheBorolad Are you saying its ok for one of our ‘supporters’ to spend 45 minutes verbally abusing an opponents goal keeper?

No one is putting words in anyone's mouth. I was just stating my support for boroblades comment, regarding the unpleasant behaviour of someone wearing Boro colours. Was he's chanting really inspiring our team onto better things. I dealt it, I expect the players would have been embarrassed by it.

I doubt the players cared, didn't seem to care about anything last night. Didn't thank any of the away support last night and scurried of the pitch into the changing rooms as soon as the whistle blew.

The Sussex Senior Cup, obviously means nothing to our Manager or our players after last night's display, but it does matter to the fans.. This was the last chance of any silverware this season, and the club's supporters were clearly let down.
A shameful team effort, coaching staff who had no idea how to change things. They were more content to rant at the referee, than to make substitutions that were clearly needed earlier than they were made. They allowed Matt Crabb to run the game from the centre circle, I can't believe he was left unmarked all game.
However, it was also a shameful display by a small majority of so called fans. I very much hope that the club names and shames those responsible, and we do not have to put up with that again.
Well done Lewes...you clearly deserved the win and good luck in the next round.

My view on the singers...... As i've stated before, yes some of the songs we used to sing had the occasional bad word in but the majority of songs were design to support and encourage the team on the field of battle, we wouldn't waste our voices for 45 minutes calling the opposition keeper a w****are, what does that actual achieve? Again, as stated before, its not the noise the singers of today are making that is the problem its the content of what is being sung. Atmosphere at games is important both home and away and full credit to those who do thier best to create that but when you have more songs that insult the opposing players or fans than you do that encourge EBFC then you have a problem. My view on the game.... Very poor from Boro, we know the SSC is no FA Cup but the players should still be able to do the basics. We let Lewes play their game and failed so show that we are the higher ranked side. Too many players playing out of position which i know in some cases is due injury/suspension but we'll never gain any consistancy unless we play to our strengths. McCallum is more of a threat playing on the wing than a centre forward, Lok plays better off Pac-man and Johno is wasted on the right of midfield or at right wing back.. He's such a danger to the opposition when sitting behind the front two. When will we see a consistant boro side? On the plus side.... Great to see Watts and Beale back playing.

Nowt to do with the Lewes game specifically (feel free to move this to a new thread, Admin, if need be) but this excellent article about Dulwich Hamlet's fans show how wit, charm and originality on the terraces can go a long way... www.vice.com/en_uk/read/dulwich-hamlet-non-league-football-109Worth noting that Dulwich's crowds are through the roof (averaging 903 this season) and their team's been a success on the pitch. Am sure the atmosphere contributes to both.
