Eastbourne Borough maintained their unbeaten at home league record on Thursday (4th) when they drew 2-2 with a strong Burgess Hill side.
Quick out of the blocks on a bitterly cold night Boro caught Hill napping after 4 minutes when Jacob Merrick slipped a ball inside the right back for Charlie Morley to hit a left foot shot which deflected over the keeper for the first of an entertaining half.
The visitors equalised from a cross that was half cleared but fell to their striker inside the box on 15.
Pressure on the Burgess Hill back 4 led to a mistake at left back and Jordan Astell smashed in the loose ball from 18 yards to regain the league with half an hour gone.
Harrison Hilfiker in the Boro goal had to make a couple of good saves and the greens hit the bar but just as it looked like the home side would go in one up a corner from the left was played short and an immaculate chip nestled in the far corner to make it all square at half time.
Both sides seemed to tighten up in the second half but both still had chances to nick the 3 points and with Boro finishing the stronger it looked like James Stone had got the winner with a long range effort only for the the keeper to make a good save.
Another great advert for the Ryman Youth League and also good to see an old Boro favourite Paul Armstrong in the opposing dugout.
