Carey made some stunning saves ,the first was in the net but oh know it isn't ,simply superb ,without him we would have lost by at least 4 goals to a very poor Dover team ,in all honesty we could have had a penalty, and a rocket free kick from Hamilton (came off the keeper but no one was near enough to knock it in ) and that was that ,a night of loose passing ,too little link up play and some pretty selfish possession as well ,we still need a proficient striker that is going to actually put the ball in the net ,anyone from Morecambe would have left smiling ,probably at half time .

Hi all - Dover fan here. Firstly, thanks to those of you who listened to coverage of the game on Radio Kent - I was co-commentating on the game and apologies if there was any Dover bias!
Carey was superb, without him it undoubtedly would have been 3 or 4. I also thought your left back (Beale?) had a good game and McCallum played well. I'd agree that your best chance of beating us definitely came on Saturday, when we were well below-par - we did improve yesterday, still nowhere near the level we can play at but I am sure that applies to you guys as well.
What was evident for me was that both sides really lacked a clinical goalscorer over the two games - both quite scrappy and disjointed, if either side had someone who could cause a real nuisance up front and put the ball in the net then it would have made a big difference.
All in all I think we got out of jail across the two games, but credit to you for being a very organised and tough side to break down. Simpemba was his usual superb self and is a top class non-league defender.
Also credit to your fans for travelling in numbers at short notice on a Tuesday night - you certainly brought more fans than some clubs will do to us in the Conference Premier, which helped boost the attendance to a respectable 1000+.
Good luck for the rest of the season and fingers crossed we meet again in the Conference Prem next season.
Jack

Interesting read jack, I couldnt make it last night due early morning work commitments, but I was at the priory lane fixture. Good point about mac callum, he is a fine tricky player and difficult to stop....but...from my observations on several previous games it occurs to me that we do have players who can put the ball in the net but the boro ethos is to launch very quick incisive attacks...it has been that way for a while and also under the previous management although there was a lot of long ball then. we tend to knock it around across the park now, keeping possession and here is where mc callum tends to keep the ball too long also on the flanks, he gets past the first man and quite often the second but delays the killer pass. We have darren lok one of the quickest forwards around, but slipping your marker and then not getting the ball quick enough is stifling him. He will nearly always score when he is clear or running at a defender but as in the home fixture against Dover fc, the defence gets time to reset if the pass is not forthcoming. And they are big powerfull lads, as a lot of them are at our level. Good luck against Morecambe, I think that there is a decent chance of a league scalp there.
edit
I meant to say how much I enjoyed the commentary, very proffessional!

Carey as excellent as he has been every game this season there is no chance of us keeping him next year would of been 4/5-0 easily if it wasn't for his super reactions, they carved us open a number of time with the pace they didn't have on Saturday, why on earth Tommy plays walker is beyond me does nothing for a forward that lok or Charles cant do better plus they are a goal threat

To be fair to walker he has a decent work rate and is tiring to play against because he is strong. Not all strikers are selected because they score goals.I am sure Tommys strategy is always to wear the oppo down before injecting a bit of pace. However it must be bloomin tiring to try and keep up with Lokky and charles all game as well. You cant please every body.I remember every one debating Alan Tates inclusion by the previous regime...he could not buy a goal but did an awful lot of spade work for others. What a pity Andy Atkin is still not young and fit, the perfect striker for Lokky to play alongside...sigh.

I thought the support given to the team at Dover was great with the younger lads making plenty of noise and creating a good atmosphere with their good clean witty chants and actions, I am sure despite the result they had an enjoyable time. Well done lets hear you again on Saturday.
