I am not sure what purpose these friendlies will have, most teams are in the Ryman's league or below, surely the players need to be tested. They will only come across the standard required when they kick off their first match in the Conference South?

As with all teams when gelling in new players and giving trialist a chance to shine, it matters not what the opposition, its more a case of team building.... The players will get all the testing they need once the league campaign kicks off... Give them a chance to get to know each other first!!!!

I disagree surely they should be able to get to know each other in training, I will be absolutely amazed if we don't win all these games, what to say we are unbeaten?. Competition makes the heart grow stronger well in my book it does?

I think lower ranked teams have the incentive to try and beat their opponents in these friendlies. I know if i was tommy i would be looking for this rather than a team going through the motions. When we have played better sides than us in the past we always have raised our game.

I am sure Lewes gained a lot of confidence after last weeks drubbing at home!!!!!

Must have netted them a good bit of money though. 2300 gates and all the takings from the bar etc.

Playing friendlies is about getting match fitness levels up, testing formations and trying out a few training ground routines in a "match" scenareo. It is not designed to be a full blooded test against superior opposition. Most teams will end with one showcase crowd pleaser. Most Championship sides are currently playing mainly Conference Premier or below sides in their preparation. There is no need to "raise our game" until the league / cup campaigns start. Another aim is to not end up with a pile of injuries pre-season. The team will only really know their capabilities, understandings and achieve full match fitness when the season commences.

Is Tonbridge likely to be on today after last nights rain and more to come later. As we know their ground is prone to waterlogging.

Can,t see a problem with tonbridge. ground has been so dry for weeks the rain should soon soak away. best keep a eye on tonbridge or boro webpages as if there is a problem i should be posted there first.
